The corn field had some new visitors today.
The Canada Geese have arrived.
Seems like there is enough room….cows, Sandhill Cranes and the Canada Geese. There were lots of them,
scattered here and there and everywhere. The Sandhill Cranes were still there also. It looked like to me everyone has decided to get along and share the cornfield.
For the geese it is probably safer that way…it’s still hunting season here.
Linda

Wonderful! What a lovely spot you live in.

It is safer there– and those Canada’s know it! Thanks for the post and pics.
Hunting season for them ended Sat. here and now it is Snow Geese hunting season.
Whilst reading your doggies’ account ( wink and a smile for you ) of their day on Friday, I was struck with the thought that they should publish a book. Would you relay that notion to them?

Nice of you to provide a refuge for the birds! I like the Canada geese in small doses.

I love the sound of the geese – although, if they were really close to my house, perhaps I’d have a different opinion about that! They are kinda messy, but in a field, that may be a good thing – on sidewalks, not so much! My sister used to work in White Plains and the geese would hang around the building complex where she worked… making a mess of everything! They were not popular there!

Linda,
In Pea Green,
where the farm spreads out on the land
with corn, garden, farm buildings, farm equipment, and fields,
where the Uncompaghre Plateau swells blue toward distant skies,
where history lingers like a memory not older than yesterday,
the cows, Canadian geese, sandhill cranes, dogs, and people
mix into a life that grows out of the corn furrows
like a glorious symphony
written by the sun.

I enjoy your blog because I grew up on a Wisconsin dairy farm. I learned there the love of the earth. Ethel Mortenson Davis. Thank you.

Still hunting season here too for geese but I sure saw a lot of them on my travels this weekend. I was amazed at the numbers but then, no snow and warm weather means there is still a lot of open water for them too.
