The cold front is still here, but gradually moving on. By this coming weekend we should have somewhat warmer weather.
Yesterday morning we were 2 above Zero, this morning we were 5 above Zero…just a little bit warmer, but I’ll take it.
The day will warm up better than yesterday, we should see warmth around 47* this afternoon. Gradually, gradually, we are heading back toward spring.
Just as Terry and I were going to head off to upper end our son-in-law showed up with half-a-load of firewood for us. What a cool gift!
The hope is this will last until May…which by that time (WE THINK) it will be warm enough spring is really here!
I can remember my Mother saying that anytime we have an early Easter (an Easter in March) the weather is always bad. That you can’t have winter end until Easter comes. Even if she isn’t right, so far this year is seems to be so.
Have a good Monday everyone!
Linda

Well…spring and Easter are coming soon.

We were 27* this morning and yesterday and we got about 7″ of snow all weekend. Twin heifer calves were born in the middle of the storm and doing fine. So glad it wasn’t ice and wind.

I can attest to the fact that spring is coming. Tucker is shedding. It happened almost overnight. I brushed him the other day… nothing. Now, he can’t walk anywhere without leaving reminders of his presence! They had a ton of snow at our house – more than we have had in any one storm this winter. Currently we are in a holding pattern in southern NM, waiting for the snow to go away! Then we will head home!
I love practical gifts! A cheery fire is so nice on a cool day!

Interesting about the weather being bad when there’s an early Easter… Wish I knew the statistics… Your mother is probably correct… Makes me curious!!!
Cold here too –and we have snow. You’ll have to check out my blog post today—and/or Facebook. Hopefully it will warm up some for all of us this weekend for Easter.
Hugs,
Betsy

My grandmother and others of her age group said the same thing about an early Easter. They learned from observing and listening to their mothers and grandmothers. Have a good week.

I think your mother was right, it’s strange how these March Easters always seem so cold. Love the beautiful sky in your photo!

It looks as if you’re going to get warmer today than we will. We have light snow now. I definitely hope the weather will improve after Easter.

Its true … we always seem to dive into winter over the Easter weekend – irrespective of whether it is in March or April. We have very welcome rain here tonight and it will probably be the last till next summer 😦 Laura

Such a pretty photo! I think at least this year your Mom is right. Still cold here in the mornings too, even zapped some of my crocus. Am thinking I may need to put another layer of mulch on the bulbs out front.

Does this mean that more cold is coming our way? I actually don’t think i want anymore.. Oh how i wish someone would drop a load of wood out here, but honestly with all the activity in and out of the Coupe and another wall coming off for a door into the recycled glasshouse (not even begun yet) , trying to keep warm is a lost cause! c

We have been cold but not really close to zero for quite some time, glad you are going to see the forties. We are supposed to see the forties also, this week.

It’s cold here too, unseasonably so, but as you say Easter is on its way and time to change out of my thermals !!

I am so ready for the cold to leave! It was 20 yesterday a.m. and this morning. In low to mid 40’s both days. We were at 76* when the wind started howling Saturday afternoon…winds up to 65mph with 0 visibility from blowing dust! And I was out in it! Didn’t get home until 7 that evening and no electricity! But the electric guys were out in it and I got electricity about 9:30 that evening. Bless those guys out in all weather! We are to warm up by Wednesday and SUPPOSED to have a pretty Easter..time will tell!
Hope you warm up, too, and don’t have to use all that wood. I will be having a fire in the fireplace tonight! Love your picture, Linda. Blessings!

So glad your family look after you, and bring you wood.
Since Easter is calculated by various full moons I wonder if there is a good reason for your mother’s saying about the weather….roll on spring for Linda !

Gorgeous photo, Linda! And I do hope it slowly but surely warms up there. Your son’s gift was “cool” in one way, but is a “warm gift” in another!
