Yesterday we went from snow to slush. The day warmed up to somewhere in the 50’s.
Although, having lovely warmer weather is nice, the mud isn’t. But we MUST go through the mud to get to dry ground.
The weatherman predicted rain for today, but nwt is just saying cloudy with temps in the 50’s again.
Could we be so lucky that winter has decided to leave? Only time will tell. The Old Farmer’s Almanac is stating that February 16th is the day ‘winter’s back will be broke’. Until that time yesterday, and so far today, it feels like maybe…..just maybe…we are heading toward spring. One day at a time!
I’m ready and I’m sure you are also!
We are heading up to the Uncompahgre Plateau to go sledding today. The little grandchildren haven’t been this year so to celebrate a shift in the weather we thought this might be a fun thing to do.
I hope your day has the same feeling of hope in it, the same sense of renewal, laying buried almost ready to burst forth.
Your farm friend,
Linda

i’m ready for spring here in texas. usually by now i’ve been mowing yard – not this year.

It would be nice if Winter decided to leave, but I’m not getting my hopes up. The weather forecast last night said we would return to normal temperatures over the week ahead, which will be an improvement. I hope you had fun sledding today.

Have fun and take photos.

The Kamiah Kluckers and I are ready for SPRING big time but here in Central Idaho we had another six inches of powder on top of the existing six inches of powder snow. No sun and a warming trend with rain due next week. Yeah ! Break out the shorts !

I wish, too, but here in NJ, there’s a forecast of a couple more inches of snow tonight and again on Thursday. Spring… *sigh*

Still anxiously awaiting spring on the east coast. We got into the 40s today, but it didn’t feel like it when I was outside. Our forecast is showing a snowflake on Monday and Wednesday, guess we’ll see what that means! Glad to hear you have milder temps, and taking the kids out for sledding. Keep making those warm memories!

Melting and blue sky is always welcome in February. But I’m afraid the answer to your question is –probably not for a while. >8P

We travelled south and have enjoyed our first day in a long time with sunshine and no jackets. We’ll see what tomorrow brings! I hope you are right!

Oh, what fun to go sledding!! At least for the grandkids…I’m too old to get down on that sled and be able to get back up again!! I remember when I and some friends would go tubing in the mtns.
I am hoping for Spring to come soon, also! We had 1 1/2 warmer days and then a cold blast come in a couple of hours ago and we went from 71 to 33 degrees right now! Alas, I’m afraid we haven’t scared winter away yet!
Your picture is absolutely gorgeous! Blessings!

An early spring would be nice, but like you I’m a little wary of breaking out the champagne just yet. Jack Frost can be a wily fellow and come back when you least expect it.

We always say here in the UK that Feb 14th (St Valentine’s Day) is the day when the birds decide that Winter is on its way and they can start pairing up.
