Every day I capture the day photos of Sam and Fuzzy
and Boomer
AHHHHHHHHH, Yes! I see what it is they are checking out—
A Busy little Fox!
Well, no chickens out there. The one little hen is in the house with us at night. And during the day the dogs are on the watch.
After the little hen gets well enough I will start to introduce her back to the flock. Then she will go back to Shannon’s (her real home) to live.
But for now…..
This is so not good. 😦
Your Farm Friend,
Linda

uh oh. predator close by!

No foxes here that we ever saw. But, then we don’t have dogs so really have no idea. We do have coyotes and raccoons and skunks that would eat the chickens if they weren’t locked up at night.

I used to see lots of foxes in London. But have never seen one here. Coyotes of course, but no trouble so far..Though almost time again to start leaving Ton outside now that The Old Dog comes in at night. But at the moment no-one goes very far with all this snow. Good morning Farm Friend. c

Oooh what a cheek that fox has….coming to your farm looking for his dinner. Put a notice up pointing the way to the local market

Well, he or she might be bad news, but he or she sure has a nice tail!!!! My grandmother used to wear one of those clipped around her neck. Tell him that and see if he comes back!

Uh Oh—that fox is definitely not welcome!!!!!
Glad the little hen is doing better… She is NOT going to want to go back to the pen for sleeping… ha
We had 5 inches of snow yesterday… Very pretty!!!

Bad bad fox. The CO kids have a fox den in the vacant lot next to them — we love them there. But there are no chickens nearby. (Not sure what they eat besides dog food if they can get away with it.)

Hopefully your fox is just passing through and smells the dogs.

UGH! Predators! We have had it bad with coyotes this year. So have the neighbors. They are very brazen. Snatching calves right off the feed ground! Its so heart breaking finding a calf eaten by a coyote. Had the USDA wildlife services out flying and hunting them. Got to windy though. Hope they come back tomorrow.
At night it sounds like there are thousands out there!
Happy Valentines Day! 🙂

What do you use to catch the pics of the predators in your yard at night? Yes, those doggies have good noses for sure. Might it be a red fox….its sure looks white to me. I am sure in the frozen north they have white foxes that blend in. You can’t let the little hen back with those other chickens. You need another chicken to keep her company and she will be the head chicken.

Go away little fox. You are not welcome. Go find the rabbits way out in the fields!

Nope, not good. I hate finding tracks from those critters.

We have foxes here, but they mostly take the wild hares and an occasional wild duck. Your snow is melting as fast as ours. What an extraordinary winter we are having!

We had a fox or coyote get our chickens one year. Now we try to keep a radio going in the chicken house that way they think someone is in the house.

They are so pretty – but not up near your pets and livestock! 😦

Isn’t it amazing how their noses know what has been around. You think it would give them a headache all those smells.
