The wind is still with us…a very sharp wind, blowing across the snow freshly dumped in the mountains all around us.
We are COLD. In my yard the asparagus has froze, the lilac buds have turned brown and dried on the stem, the fruit trees crisp white blooms are now a brown yucky color. Out on the farm everything is still okay…the alfalfa is cold but green, growing slowly, but still alive. We are still irrigating, nothing has been planted so we have no worries in that department.
Rain and snow occurred off and on all day
The wind pushing storm clouds from the west toward us, then onto the east
At different points the sun shined into the Roubidoux Canyon allowing us to see the geological formations just four miles from our farm.
The tri-colored Red-winged Blackbirds helped us while we changed water, searching for yummy things in the soil.
A hawk looking for super also, watched us while we changed the water, swaying gently in the wind on his tiny branch in the tree. The tree is still waiting for warmth so it can leaf out…waiting, just like us.
Suddenly a rainbow lite up an culvert a neighbor has ready to insert across an arroyo on his land!
We worked on the water until dark, but even the dark offered Bling in the most spectacular of ways!
The Bling of Nature…really, who could ask for more? Not I. I am most comfortable here, on the land…really Terry and I try hard to one with the land and all that shares it with us!

Your pictures are so pretty, Linda! Especially like the rainbow. Hopefully, you are going to warm up to Spring temperatures soon.
We have another day of cold Winter-like winds from the north today. It only got up to 58* yesterday and is to be 60* today. The dirt has blown since Sunday, however it is to be less windy today with no blowing dust. Have many outside chores to do. Had to bring plants in last night as we had a freeze warning. Got down to 36, so no freeze, thankfully. Will keep plants in till tomorrow a.m. as have cold temps again tonight. Is to be 90* by Sunday!!! A real roller coaster here!

Frustrating, isn’t it? Yesterday it was 70 degrees here and then 21 at night. I think my peonies, froze, too. That has never happened before. Great pictures, even though it was horrible weather.

Wow…there was sleet and snow an hour north of us last night, but not as bad as y’all have…the asparagus will at least send up more stalks, but, Oh! the fruit trees 😦

Well—nature can still bring us ‘bling’ –even in hard times… So sorry about your fruit trees and other things which are dying…. BUT–overall, it sounds like you and Terry are doing well, knowing nature and how to deal with nature’s surprises as they happen.

If you open your hands, Nature will always put a gift into them. That rainbow and that sunset are just examples. Yes, there’s some very bad stuff around too, but you’re keeping track of the good stuff.

I hope it warms up……it’s supposed to rain here again this weekend, which is good as long as it doesn’t turn to snow. I love the photo of the sun rays coming through the clouds.

You just can’t seem to get a break from the weather! We have been in the mid 80’s the past few days. My arms have browned to now match my hands! Lol! Been busy branding, turning bulls out and moving heifers.
Last year my lilacs didn’t bloom. This year everything is blooming, so far. I am planning on planting the tubers you sent me.
