Well, here we sit, the corn is still standing, albeit growing shorter and shorter as the days go by. The weather and the wind has started breaking the tops off the stalks, the moisture is keep the corn kernels wet, and the ground is muddy.
It’s not just us…it is everyone who has corn to shell and sell.
Still we wait. There isn’t anything else to do.
Corn harvest…not yet!
Your friend on a western Colorado Farm,
Linda
I am so sorry to read this. The weather can be so frustrating when you are trying to farm. Hope things dry out soon!

Spring was terribly wet and cold and now so is fall. It’s been a struggle this year.

That’s not good news. I was hoping that by now this corn would be well and truly
harvested. When is the latest date for this to happen with success?
Fingers crossed for the weather to give you a bloody “Go”.
Cheers
Colin

No real date…it all depends on the moisture of the corn. If there is moisture in the sky, the corn absorbs it. Also if the ground is too wet to get the combine and trucks into…we wait.

I’m sorry! Harvest time can be so tricky…there’s still some standing corn here as well, although not too much. Hopefully you’ll get it off soon, and have a good yield!

Thanks, Alice. Terry tested the corn yesterday…there are two fields ready to go. Now if the mud will dry up….
