What Bird is This?—Wednesday, August 30, 2017

We have been having flocks of these little birds; hanging around in the yard and in the corn field.

They don’t seem to eat seeds, since they are leaving the feeders alone.

If anyone knows would you leave a comment in the comment section?

Thank you very much,

Linda

  1. This same bird showed up here on Loghill Mesa a couple weeks ago to eat the thistle. I’d never seen it before here, but in Illinois they were common and we called them female goldfinches.

  2. Looks like a female American goldfinch. Males are a lovely bright yellow and some black coloring is scattered throughout. They love sunflower seeds and can be seen hanging on the flowerheads eating the seeds. We have them here in SE PA. Pretty birds.
