Boomer and I were out working on the farm when I noticed a huge amount of smoke in the San Juan area
After getting home I looked it up on the Fire Map…They are calling it the Cow Creek Fire
I have no idea what started it.
Scary to be having fires this time of year.
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda
I hope you are out of harm’s way. These wildfires are very scary.

They are scary. Yes, we a several miles away. It’s so big, though, I can see it from our farm. 😦

There still is one on the Rifle side of Grand Mesa. The Young Creek fire is out. Thankfully

We have fire bans in our area and have three rains in the last week which were badly needed but still not enough to lift the ban. Hunting season and campfires are usually our culprits although there are a few brush fires that get out of hand and cause ours. People just don’t think!!! Take care and stay out of the smoke if possible.
Love ya!!

I am wondering if a hunter started this one. Sigh

Morning! I was wondering if you were getting smoke from this one. It was reported early morn of 10/16. I think they are bringing in a Type II inci comand today. We are still seeing smoke from the Decker fire down south of Salida. Hate this. The wind is fierce here today and probably won’t help either fire…

You might want to consider portable filters for your house. We have had terrible fires and smoke here. I finally bought portable electric filters online, and they are wonderful!!! Not very expensive, but they really clear the indoor pollution. I now use them when we have high winds and blowing dust also. VERY much better for our lungs, especially at night. I use one in our living area and one in the bedroom. Let me know if you need the info.
Good luck!

My neighbor has children with very bad allergies, and she recommended these to our quilt group. We have all been very pleased with them. The HEPA filter technology is important.
Winix 5300-2 Air Purifier with True HEPA PlasmaWave (etc.)
Winix 5500-2 has washable filter (yuck) You would have to be VERY careful washing it!!!
Alen BreathSmart-FLEX-Pure heap-filter-air -purifier (on sale)
Levoit LV-H132 Purifier (smaller and not as powerful)
They all came from Amazon–I really hate to patronize them, but no one carries this here.
Amazon has lots more; just be sure to get ones big enough for your room. We got one for the living area and one for the bedroom.
Our kitty always stays in the room where they are on.
Good luck!!!
If you need more help, please feel free to call me. I’m the lady who knew about the Betsy-Tacy books. I can always send my phone again.

I think it’s close or even out now, because of all the snow falling up there.

Nothing is scarier than a fire! I’m glad they got that one out. We’ve been lucky to have enough rain to minimize the risk this year. Last year was bad enough and breathing that smoke is not good. Hoping you get rain soon.
