It was a shock to read on Tuesday that a wonderful, and long-time blog friend, Jan Williams was killed in her home while watching the Super Bowl playoffs.
She started following my blog in 2007. At which time I started following her.
Over the years she would send me private emails of encouragement, a Christmas gift of her stunning quilt work, and many-times two thumbs up for something I wrote.
She, among others, encouraged me to try my hand at printing a book. Then she even announced my book on her blog.
She was a huge friend.

That man even had his kids in the car. The rest of his life he will be paying (emotionally) for the belief he could drink and drive.
My heart goes out to everyone.
Good-bye, Jan. You were a wonderfully stalwart friend!
From my heart to your world,
Linda
Linda, I am so sorry for your loss, and for the dreadful loss suffered by her whole family. Alcohol and driving just don’t mix; in Australia this past week, four children from the same family walking down the street were all killed by a driver 3 times over the legal limit, and two of their siblings were critically injured. That man chose to drink too much, he chose to drive although he knew it was wrong, and in your case, the man also endangered his young children. It’s a horrible tragedy, and everyone’s the loser.

I’m sorry to hear about the death of your friend. I know she will be missed. A person never expects something like that could happen.

The doors opened and she walked through, but what a mess that man made for those left behind and for his children and family. Sigh.

Oh Linda, how awful–and so random– frightening in its happenstance. I’m so sorry for your loss. I wish I knew something wise and wonderful and healing, but I don’t . I only know the old tried and true and trite which I am sure you are tired of. My deepest sympathy.

I feel so sorry for her family. And, in the reality of things, for those children of that man who ruined so many lives, his included. Thank you, Katie.

We grow to love people, even though we never see them, only through the eyes of the internet. But the joy of knowing good friends we never really ever get to meet is still just as strong as if they lived right next door; as in a way they do. It was tragic. Hugs to you Charlotte!

OMG, LINDA. I’m sorry for the loss of your friend. I’m sorry for her family, left behind to mourn her loss and their own injuries. I’m sorry for that man’s kids. What a moron. Really? You’re drunk AND you’re speeding thru a residential area? He hit the house so hard that it is unfit for occupancy. And, the money to have it repaired to make it livable, again…
Unbelievable.

I hated to click the like button here. How sad for all those left behind and for you to think of her dying that way. The poor children of the drinking man. It’s the one thing I hammered into my children. One drink, no drive. Drink at home and make it one there. My daughter won’t even answer her phone while driving much less text. That’s a statistic no one wants to be. So deep sorry to hear about this.
