The smoke has been nearly constant, burning the eyes and smothering the land. But late evening brought a wind
That started to clear the skies from the dull light through the deep smoke
The wind gusting here and there adding to the
sweet joy of seeing the new baby alfalfa seeds taking hold and starting to grow
Even in the muted gray of the skies, and the true lack of real sunlight, the new field is starting to green up.
The evening colors weaving lushly in the sky
And bathing us with immediate relief.
Greenfields and clearer skies!
With even a hint of rain in the air!
WOW!
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Yay! Let it clear! Let it rain!

I’m glad to hear that your new field is greening up, even under dreary (smoky) skies. Your last photo is gorgeous. I hope you get some of that rain soon.

my wife said she could feel a hint of “rain-moisture” on her skin last night. as i suspect you’ll agree, TODAY is the clearest for weeks! e.g. we couldn’t even SEE the Mesa some days, nor the Bookcliffs — but today, yes. I was up on the Monument earlier this a.m. and tho’ it’s hazy up north, i could see (at times) 2 ridges beyond the B’cliffs. i bet you can see the San Juans, etc. ?

The San Juans and the Paonia mountains are still shrouded. But we can see Grand Mesa and the Uncompaghre albeit there is still a thin haze.

The two big fires are starting to be contained so that helps, and the possibly of rain is such a relief.
