Good-bye Sweet Red-Winged Black birds
Always the first sign of Spring in my yard.
Now that your Summer home is greening up (the Upper End and the Back Forty of our farm) I will have to drive to see and hear you sing.
And I will because you are such special birds to me.
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda
I also love red winged black birds. They always remind me of my childhood with my dad when he would always point them out to me.

Such pretty birds & you’ve captured them well! The other areas on your farm must be damper…?

We have a couple of areas they love

We can still visit them, Oona, we just have to go to the back part of the farm! There they hatch babies and sing loudly!

They or their cousins will be singing an a week or two at the wetlands near my house, and I’ll stop to listen to them – my favorite bird sing.

I can understand why you want to go and see them after they move to the back forty. At least you don’t have to travel too far.

Nope just a mile and I’m there! 🙂

I’ll have to watch ours. I didn’t know they moved on so quickly. I’ve always thought they stayed all summer. Hmmm… I did here some purple martins yesterday. It’s hard to tell if they are just scouts or “ours”.

Oh! How lovely! We don’t get Purple Martins here.
