One of the biggest signs of Summer’s Ending—besides
The changing of the evening light
The subtle but real feeling in the air
More gold in the golden hour of morning or evening
The gradual fading of the trees’ leaves
The flowers blooming less; setting seeds
The crickets chirping loudly each and every night—the grasshoppers in giant-form now
It’s the daily whisper from the birds. “Go! They sing—Go we must—the south is calling and we must go.”
Look to the skies now and watch your feeders. The little summer birds are leaving us. “Goodbye, they call. Goodbye until we meet again.”
“Keep your face to the sun and you will never see the shadows.”–Helen Keller
From my heart to your heart,
Linda

Yes, one tree has leaves turning and today I saw a golden tree. I love the fall, but am not ready for summer to end. We’re in the middle of putting in water and electric, preparing for the subdivision. Someday, we’ll build a house away from the road. Labor Day is the four corners motorcycle rally. Very loud!

Interesting things happen when summer starts to end — at least in eastern Tennessee. Last night the weather service said we had three seasons here yesterday — winter in the mountain, autumn on the plateau (where we live) and summer in the valley. If you don’t like the weather in Tennessee just wait a few minutes or drive a few miles!

I took in my Humming Bird feeder, there are enough blooming flowers now for them and the nights are cool so they should be leaving very soon:)

Mine are leaving, we have about 50 each afternoon, but in the morning only about 10. Then it fills up again. By the end of this month I will probably only have one or two feeders out, because they will almost all be gone. I keep out those two feeders until no one drops by for several days. Then it’s over. Sigh
