I Said a Prayer of Thanks —- Sunday, August 24, 2025

We have finally entered the last week of August!

Whew!

I am so grateful!

I never, ever, thought I would say that the heat (we hit 104* lately) would get to me.

But it did! I need a cool down. Of which, I’m sure

Everyone and everything else does too.

Next week, September!!!  YAY!

Gambel’s Quail —- Wednesday, August 20, 2025

We have a nice bunch of Quail, which live on the farm with us.

I love to hear their sweet little voices

And to watch their chicks grow up.

I’m so grateful they are staying safe from the predators

(Hop, skip, jump)

Who also live with us on our farm.

A Gift From Vermont Cemetery Preserve — Monday, August 18, 2025

I opened my email to THIS!!! —

“Hi Linda. Hope all is well.

Went for a walk this evening at the Vermont Cemetery Preserve this evening and was able to capture this:

The cemetery is inside that fence. It dates back to the 1840s and the first settlers to this area. It is surrounded now by indigenous grasslands and walking paths, further surrounded now by housing developments.
The story of this might be interesting to some:
The original settlers thought the soil must not be fertile, since there were few/no trees. Little did they realize they were walking on some of the most fertile black dirt in the world.
Lots of interesting history here, if one digs for it.”
WOW!!!  A beautiful rainbow, a cemetery, and history!!! PERFECT!!!

Thank you so much.  I loved getting this email!

The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-The End of the Story, Friday, August 15, 2025

After that Crow thing I told,  “Boo Berry, we can’t be friends with the wild animals.  We just can’t.” Hrumphed TLC

“Gosh, why not?  I thought it was fun talking to the Stanley, Stanley, Stanley, Stanley.  And getting to see his homes.  I must admit the crow was very alarming. VERY! But you saved me, so that turned out good.”

“There is a natural order to things, Boo Berry.  Your job is to bark at squirrels, and their job is to run fast from you. That is how it all works.” TLC turned tail and marched off.

(And MINE is to HUNT SQUIRRELS. And mice, and voles, and—-)

“BOO BERRY!” Mom yelled, “Let’s go!  It’s time to help Dad with the hay.” Mom came out the door, stooped down, and swooped me up into her arms.

“Time to get to work, Boo Berry, it haying time!”

Well, I guess that’s the end of my storytelling.  Perhaps someday I will have a cool adventure to share with you.  But, then again, maybe not.  That crow sorta took the ‘venture’ out of adventure for me.  I am sticking with Mom; it’s a lot safer that way.

(But….I do wonder about Stanely, Stanely, Stanely, Stanely’s family and their homes.)

{and what other neat animals live on the farm}

Until next time!

That Wonderous Beautiful Orb in the Sky —- Thursday, August 14, 2025

Called the sun!

And the amazing

AMAZING!

Light!

I love the glow of light just at the break in the horizon

Or spilling through the cracks in the clouds

The reddish glow through the horrid smoke

Ahhh

How the sun makes the clouds beautiful!

Bringing life to everything and everyone upon the earth.

One More Ride — Trip to Lake City —Wednesday, August 13, 2025

Off we went—had to get away before all the heavy work started again!

It’s a bit of a trip—Up to and around Blue Mesa Reservoir.  The water is low, but we have seen it worse. (Click on the blue to learn more)

Then 58 more miles (if I remember right) to Lake City.

We ate at the Packer Saloon and Cannibal Grill.

The outdoor seating was nice!

Packed with people, more waiting to be seated.

Then home again.  Home again.

We were exhausted.  Plumb wore out, as my Dad would have said.
