Old Homestead

Not far from us is the Rubidoux Canyon, along the dirt and gravel road we pass this forlorn little homestead cabin.

I always wonder who came, took the time to build, and then found out that the water in the Rubidoux River dries up in August or September. Thereby forcing the family to move on, looking for something more productive, but leaving behind this reminder of their lives.

Our Baby Calves are Growing Up

They are still a most unusual color.  I had wondered if they would change, but they haven’t.

White (Super Nova) Burgmansia

The white Brugmansia is now blooming, just the most spectacular of long white blossoms.

With the 4 O’clocks as a hedge, the pots are just beautiful, to say the least.

Life as a Bird

I would hate to be a bird!  They have such a precarious existence.  This poor little bird lost her life and her eggs.

And the carnivore that disposed of everything had to leave a deposit in the nest.

Douglas Pass

Then we drove the ‘short’ road to Grand Junction, which really isn’t, BECAUSE of Douglas Pass!  What a curvy, open-range, poorly paved road.

I can see why people just don’t go that way unless they just have too.

But along the way we saw a beautiful little momma deer and her twins!

A Vacation to Craig, Colorado

Off on a short vacation—to Craig, Colorado to Ike’s Salvage Yard for a bumper for the 1963 Grand Prix Pontiac.  Just one of the projects Terry has been saving ‘for when he retires’.

After a thirty minute walk, looking over the whole 40 acres of old cars, the perfect bumper was found!

Getting it off the wrecked car, hauled up to the office, paid for and put into the truck only took about 90 minutes.

Wet Dude

Our dog understands what you are supposed to do when it is just too hot to move.

Jump in the ditch!

100 Degree Weather

Hot!  Really Hot!  100 degree weather, with high humidity, wasn’t I just worried about rain, not to long ago?

The Plants are ‘Setting On’

The corn ears are developing….

The beans are blooming…..

And setting beans

August 1st

Terry’s Dad always said “if the corn is tasseled by August 1st, then the corn will make before frost.
