It cold, calm and clear here. We woke up to 8 degrees, but it is warming up. I think it was 20 when I came up here to post.
I’m not surprised at the cold…I saw a Sun Dog Saturday morning.
Most of the corn is about harvested. The fields that are left are having that high moisture trouble we had last year. Its a type of corn, of which we are not ever going to plant again…I can assure you.
I’ve been critter sitting….the kids have been gone for several days so the little cage animals have been living with us, Hank/Puff has been living with Shannon, and I go down and take care of the cats and the goats.
Terry is working on the grain truck…he got the tailgate fixed from when the bolt came out.
We are being over-run with mice so we have a huge trap line going in the barns. Ugh. Our two cats and the dogs work at it, but there are just too many.
Anyway, have a nice Sunday!
Linda
Hi Linda, Yes—sun dogs and COLD weather go together, don’t they???? EIGHT degrees is very cold to me… We are fairly warm here (in the 60’s) —but having high winds and lots of rain today…
Sorry that you are having problems again this year with the moisture level –while trying to harvest your corn…
Enjoy all of the EXTRA critters…
Hugs,
Betsy

Beautiful skies you have. There’s a plug in sonic thing you can get that chases mice out (they hate the sound it emits)….I’m thinking of plugging one in our barn just to keep them out of the tack room and oat bin. They are horrible here this year too.

Sorry to hear about all the mice. 😐
Is that what you call that? I always thought it was a poorly formed rainbow. Learn something new!
Good luck with your mouse problem.

I saw the field mice zipping all around tonight. No doubt enjoying the droppings from the combine. I’m sure they will be fat and happy this winter and will hopefully stay out of our pantries.

Not many mice this year here..not sure why? Maybe we have a working Owl! I have not seen any sundogs yet..not cold enough..usually we have to have temps of at least 10 below zero before they appear:)

I have heard of sun dogs for many years but did not know what to look for or what a sun dog meant. Can you give a better description of the meaning?
