We had a small treat yesterday…our kids, who live in Grand Junction, Colorado, arrived with our granddaughter, her best friend, and their three fur children…”Would you like to go for a hike”? They asked!
“Sure” we replied!
Loading up Boomer, Terry and I followed them onto SawMill Mesa Road, past the Correctional Facility, then onto the old road to Escalante Canyon. Turning off we all parked and started hiking up a dry wash. They day wasn’t too hot and the bugs were still stunned from all the rain we had the two days before.
The desert wildflowers were stunning! But (to me) the most beauty came from those fleeting papery flowers of the cactus…
There were many different colors
Delighting in the recent moisture
and sunshine
A rare and lovely Gift!
Linda

Cacti have such beautiful blooms to be such a prickly lot. Hike sounds like it was fun!

Gorgeous flowers. Seems kind of odd when you look at cactus with the spines and odd shapes to see such beautiful, fragile flowers on them. Thanks for the pictures.

The cacti is very pretty but a curse for the animals – except goats.
Goats must have strong digestive powers – ha ha.
I should think Mr. Boomer steered a wide course around them?
Great that the grand kids are still so close for visits, certainly
keeps you fit and young.
Wait a second! With all that work with the irrigation, the fit part
can be deleted, eh?
Cheers

6.30 am Tuesday 9th. The outside still before sun up and the day
looks bleak – rain????

How beautiful! Delta should have a Desert flower festival and draw thousands of people! Like in Lancaster ca, with their poppy . Only wishing. I did see an array of cactus in bloom around palisade a few days ago. Jens took me. Near rapids creek rd. I believe. Love.Jen
