Yesterday, we were married 48 years. 48 years, almost a half-a-century. How wild is that?
A wonderful and dear, dear friend told me (on her 54 wedding anniversary): “When you get to this place in life, and you look back over the years; you realize that there are some wonderful years, some terribly horrible years, some ho-hum years, some “this can’t be happening years”. Then when you bunch them all together. Once bunched together you realize that all the years put together make a very nice life”.
You know she was right!
I so believe that each day we are alive is a wonderful gift—no matter what happens tomorrow.
Thank you, my blog friends, for being along on this ride of Terry’s and my lives here on a western Colorado farm.
With much love and appreciation,
Linda
I love the wedding picture — and the wisdom of your friend.

Marriage is a constant battle for sanity, but maintaining that sanity is its own sweet, awesome reward.
I look back 42.5 years ago when I was 21 and my wife was 19. We thought life was going to be a never-ending fairytale; and to be honest, as your friend says; when it’s all compiled, it is indeed an incredible story.
CONGRATULATIONS!

We were all so young back then, weren’t we.. I was 18 and Terry 23! The ride has been a good one!

A Christmas wedding, was too much expense at that time of year, but, oh well. We didn’t want to wait any longer.

Congratulations – you and Terry are real “stunners” as is the whole bridal party.
Now all I need to read is – “Corn OFF” and my day will be made.
Incredible mild, sunny weather here – seems we will have a lovely Christmas
minus the “sweltering” – except for the poor Victorians – furnace like conditions
for Christmas day with winds – doesn’t relate to a fire-free time. Fingers
crossed for rain down below the “Murray”.
Merry Christmas to all the Brown clan.

my gosh, my first thought was, i’ll bet this was the same year my older brother got married, as the dresses, hairstyles, tuxes all look so similar … even the shades of blue in the dresses and the style of your dress. and sure enough, he married in 1967, about a month before you did. happy anniversary to you. –suz in ohio

Happy Anniversary, Linda and Terry!!! That’s quite a milestone. Considering the rates of divorce these days or those who don’t even bother getting married in the first place. May you have many more happy anniversaries to come.
