What a Wonderful World—Thursday, December 31, 2016

Here we are…the last day of December in the year of our Lord 2015.

Tomorrow we start a new year,  2016. A.D.

What an amazing time to be alive!

Sometimes I get over-whelmed by the scary stuff going on in the world, then under-whelmed at the cruelty and desire to hurt and maime, with seems to also abound.

Still—here we are time to think about how we are going to make the next year better, how we are going to help ourselves and our families, add depth and good things into the lives of friends and strangers—-Resolutions for some, goals for others.  A chance to have a clean start—to start over, so to speak.

For myself I have lots of little goals:

  1. I want to downsize all my ‘stuff’, it’s time to get rid of my antiques and collectables. I have no one in my family interested in my ‘junk’, so I will be finding others who would like to add my things into their things.
  2. I want to write very good, descriptive blog posts—posts by which my readers can related .

And above all—

I want to enjoy each and every moment of every day I have left in the rest of my life.  This is my most fervent wish of all time.  I do believe for me—time is short.  Time might end 20-30 years from now, but that is short compared to the years I’ve had—66, and in 15 days 67.  So much can happen in a year…so very much.  But if I can Live each moment with true wonder and joy what a great blessing I will have experienced.

With wishes for a wonderful year for you,

Your friend on a Western Colorado Farm,

Linda

  1. Happy New Year, Linda! You do a wonderful job with this blog, connecting with people everywhere and telling an important story. I LOVE your header, which tells a story all by itself. Best wishes for the new year and for achieving all your goals. Thanks for being such a good friend.

  2. I love your wishes for this year and all the years to come. I have one wish for the coming year: contentment, and acceptance of my lot, even the bad stuff. Thank you for your wonderful friendship in the past few years, and I hope to call you my friend for many more.

  3. Why on earth would you get rid of your antiques and collectables? I’m sorting through stuff here and going through some of the Bossman’s moms stuff and gleaning all sorts of “old” goodys that I’m finding room for. Your house is probably MUCH cleaner than mind though…old things do collect dust.

    • I am WAY over-loaded. I have My stuff, my mom’s stuff, my grandmother’s stuff, a few things from Terry’s mother, and his Aunt and his Grandmother. I have so much stuff I have tubs of things stashed away, which I never look upon. Then I drag them out and go…OH! WONDERFUL! And of course I can’t part with them. But I need to down-size so the kids don’t have to mess with everything.

My house has issues…I only dust once a month…no matter if it needs it or not. I do windows much more and take care of the floors daily, but dust>>>>I detest dusting.

      Happy New Year, Linda

  4. Linda Brown-
I have had the wonderful opportunity to read your blog for the past two and a half years or so, but have just recently been able to show my gratitude towards you for the bits of joy you bring to me every time I read Life on a Colorado Farm, (because I now have an email) … I can tell that everything you type and post, you do it through the Lord, and sometimes it’s hard to find amazing people like that these days. I, myself want to be stronger in God as each day passes by.
I feel related to you and your life in countless ways, (and I hope you don’t think it odd that I say it in that way ;).) I live fairly close to you, from what I can tell, even though I live in town in Delta, and I’m also only 13 years old… I have many animals and many good memories at my grandparents farm/ranch in Olathe, and ‘the grandkids,’ including me, visit often. I love each blog you post, and I haven’t seen a single picture I didn’t enjoy looking at from your blog, especially all of the ‘nature’ pictures. I also find Boomer and ‘his’ posts very adorable! 😉
I really appreciate you taking time out of almost every day of your life to share bits of your life and your knowledge with the world, because everyone who reads your blog can truly cherish it. Today’s post I found very meaningful as well, and I’m also excited for what the new year can bring, and I’ll ponder on what has happened in this past year as well. Thank you so much for blogging, it really does bring joy and happiness to me when I read it!

    Thanks again!-

  7. Hi Linda,
Have been reading your blog for a year now and really enjoy it. I now live in New Mexico but grew up in Colorado so I always like seeing what’s up with the weather in your neck of the woods. Hope you get to harvest your corn soon!! I remember a few years in Minnesota having to use a corn dryer. Not fun.
Happy New Year and thanks for your great blog!

    • Terry is saying we are going to have to fill up the grain bins and turn on the dryer floor if we can’t get harvested soon. The problem with that is we don’t have enough bins for the amount of corn we have. Sigh.

  8. May all your wishes and goals come to fruition and many, many Blessings surround you and all those who love you. Have a wonderful New Year’s Eve and be sure to do at least three things tomorrow that are exclusively for you. ❤ and give Terry an extra New Year's kiss 😉 Thank you for your friendship,

    • I think washing dishes will figure into one of those three things. Then after I have a weepy moment and all the family is gone, I’ll take a nap. Then for the third thing….I think I”ll surprise myself. Happy New Year Cully!

  9. All the very best for 2016 Linda, Terry and family.
“Downsizing” – last year I started pitching – a word of warning,
be careful – I pitched some things that were important – ha ha.
Today here is January 1st – I as usual welcomed the New Year
in bed, sound asleep. I can’t recall the last time I stayed up.
Just watched on TV the Sydney display – voted always the best
in the World – well it does have that harbour.
$35 million of fireworks – 1.6 million spectators around the harbour shores
and thousands of those are overseas visitors – God only knows
how many on the apartment buildings overlooking the harbour, the hotels
and the palatial harbourside mansions – estimated revenue into
the “coffers” of the State and City – $138 million.
And the best news of all – no problems for the police, but getting home
as the CBD and harbour suburbs were closed for traffic would have been
    a nightmare I guess.
Now the crowds are descending en masse to the beaches where the weather
is perfect for surfing and BBQ-ing. I guess that means a great start for 2016.

Just lets hope that 2016 brings sanity to the World and we can all live in peace.
    Cheers
    Colin

  10. Would your grandchildren enjoy some of the antiques? I treasure some heirlooms from my Grandmother that Mama couldn’t stand.

Thank you so much for your blog and for sharing your views and family and pets with us. You have made a wonderful deposit in many lives.

    Happy New Year.

  11. Dear Linda, I enjoy your blog so much. You have some beautiful wishes there…may the new year be a good one for you and those you love. I also believe that for me, time is short and I don’t think I’ll be around this earth many more years….so here’s to making each day the very best it can be and pouring our love into everyone around us. We can be a candle in the darkness of this world. God Bless You and Happy New Year.

  12. Happy New Year, Linda. I look forward to reading those posts. I, too, started to think this year of how short a time is left. Those big birthdays have a way of doing that.
