Gladness Makes the Heart Lighter —Tuesday, March 8, 2016

The-storm-clears

Sunrise!

The storm cleared leaving us with a brilliant chilly morning, heavy with frost on the ground.

Terry has started farming today.  The first field to tackle is the alfalfa field.  It is 5 years old and starting to wear out.  He will plant ten more acres this spring—enough to keep him busy, but not as much as before.

WOW

Last night’s sunset!

After much thought he has decided to downsize.  Not in acres farmed, but in What he farms.

He will be cutting back on the corn, but increasing the pinto beans.  Pinto beans are much easier to grow and to harvest.  So once we get to have fresh pinto beans right from the field.  YAY!

It has been a gladness that has made his heart much lighter—this farming decision.

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

  1. Such beautiful sky pictures, Linda! Good to hear Terry made the decision to make farming a little easier for you all. That will make it so much more enjoyable and ease up the work some. Spring is springing here in NW Texas! Daffodils are blooming, Bradford Pear trees are in full bloom and I have Spring Fever!! We are forecasted to have chances of rain this afternoon through Friday. Sure are praying we get some of it!

Had concrete poured Saturday for new driveway out of the garage last Saturday. Now we are getting bids for new fencing. Always something to do on the farm!!

    Blessings!

    • Corn is followed by Pinto beans and Pinto beans followed by Alfalfa. Then with the removal of alfalfa the alfalfa field must go to corn as it’s too rich for the pinto beans. A little juggling but not hard to do.
