Beautiful header!! Also love the little violets! They would grow wild in our yard when I was a little girl. Alfalfa looks great, too! Thanks for sharing all your pretties!
Oh that exquisite lilac… one of my favourite flowers and we can’t grow it here because the winter isn’t cold enough – same with peonies…
will be back to you… have been taking a break…….
That lilac is rad! They grow here too, but not many of us know about it. We grow the French hybrids instead, but I do not think that they are as pretty.
Those are the best ones. I started growing the French hybrids in about 1995, not because I like them, but because it was what the nurseries sold. I can’t remember how often I was told that the old fashioned straight species needed more chill to bloom well here. I remember it blooming in Malibu (on the north coast of Santa Monica Bay, west of Los Angeles), where there is even less chill! French hybrids certainly provide more color, but none are as excellent as the originals. (Who really wants a dark purple lilac anyway? They are supposed to be ‘lilac’ colored!)
Beautiful in every way!

I love violets, they remind me of that song…Sweet Violets, sweeter than all the roses.

Mom loved lilacs and they always remind me of her. She would cut them and put them in every room.

These were here long, long ago…planted in 1900. All but one and I planted it in 1974. I love them.
