Yes, it’s cold outside…
And normal people like to dress with lots of layers on
Yes, we heat our house with a wood stove, which makes for lots of work…
But it has to seriously get cold for me to start wearing long pants to work around the farm (I wear long pants to town…just say’n. π )
I have had to give up my flip-flops during early morning activities
But it has to get insanely cold—like in January and February
To give up my shorts.
In my defense when I grew up all little girls had to wear dresses to school, even in Jr. High, even in High School…please tell me what is the difference between dresses that are the length of shorts and, well, shorts?
π
That’s my story and I’m sticking with it!Β LOL!!!

I’ve never understood why little kids are expected to wear short pants and ankle socks with great expanses of bare leg even in quite cold weather. Clearly you got used to it and now enjoy the breezy sensation!

I would wear capris all year round if I could! If I am not going out of the yard I wear them in the winter. Wear whatever feels good:)

I get it but had to get into proper shoes to protect my fragile bones in my feet. I remember walking barefoot in the snow and never being cold. I wish I could still wear flip flops. Shorts are out of the question. My legs haven’t seen daylight in 30 years. π Keep enjoying your dress code as long as it works for you. Happy Thanksgiving, Linda

I like that you follow your own dress code! It’s all about comfort (in my not-so-humble opinion anyway). i hardly own a drress but I get cold easily, especially my feet, so shorts and flip-flops aren’t for me very often, even in Florida. (There I am the different one, the only one wearing close-toed shoes.) Your comment about dresses vs shorts brought a memory my daughter and I still talk about. When she was in junior high (public school) the PTA tried to get the school to institute a rule that girls could not wear either shorts or jeans. (It had been OK, they wanted to change it back to how it used to be.) This was still in the era of mini-skirts! With our backing, she went before the Principal and some PTA representatives to present her arguments that pants were not only more modest but also definitely better for comfort and learning than too-short skirts. She and her friends won; I was so proud of her!!

We sometimes discuss this at work. I will NOT wear shorts at work. I really dislike them, especially since I now work around other people. It seems inappropriate. However, the guy who maintains the swimming pools wears shorts so regularly that he looks odd when he wears slacks. When I needed to pull reeds out of one of the creeks, I rolled my pants up, but still would not wear shorts. I would if I needed to, but such a need has not yet come up yet. It might as the drains on the roadways get clogged. You know, even at the farm, where I do not need to work around anyone else, I STILL will NOT wear shorts!

Well, when working in one of the creeks or gutters, as we will be doing now that the rainy season is beginning, shorts are not so icky. That is why the pool guy does not wear pants.
