In the slowly brightening sky, I took my camera and went in search of birds
This silly little bird was determined to get food from the Hummingbird feeder although
I have one out there just for the Oriole’s
Boomer and I took off for the other side of the farm looking for birds
There on the grain head in the bright morning sunshine
Was a busy little Quail.
Heading home through the Back Forty, then onto the Upper End I had to marvel at the beauty of the San Juan mountain range—STILL covered in snow
Just about home, this giant bird thundered across the sky…
Now THAT is a huge sound of a bird! 🙂
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda

What a bonanza of birds! How beautiful they are!

What do you put in your Oriole feeders for food?

The same thing as for Hummingbirds. I part sugar to 4 parts water. Boil, let cool then fill the feeders. 🙂

I might have the type of Quail right, but when I looked it up I thought it fit. Do you happened to know what type this quail is?

no, I just commented as those in your pixure are much more exotic-looking than those around here !

Well I hoped I could get a postive ID 🙂

The quail look just like ours, which happens to be the State Bird of California. They are small and not very good like they are in other places though.
In Los Angeles, the police helicopters that used to be more common in some neighborhoods are known as ‘ghetto birds’.
