we used to have the occasional pheasant(s) in the field below us — but a house was built there. however, one of our recent daily sightings is of an osprey (sometimes two) hovering over the neighborhood pond … and, diving and catching a fish! to carry off, presumably to the nest ~
with the pond next to our house we do have a bit of unfair advantage in attracting “water birds”. however — I think YOU get sandhills in your fields, eh? — we’ve never had sandhills drop by, but they do fly over ~ (on their way to/from Delta)
The little feathery bundles of life really do lift the spirits, don’t they? I particularly love watching our gaudy ones, they’re so unlikely in a natural green setting, but somehow, it works.
I’m always amazed at the hugely varied sizes and colors of birds. You have captured that.

Isn’t he handsome. I hope he and his women and kids can survive not being coyote food.

O! Lucky you! I have one pair. But last night Terry and I saw a young male so maybe we will get a pair then we will have two pair.

Maybe next year you will get a pair or two. All you need is one pair then the others comes.
