Chapter Three
Off we went, Mom, Dad, and I clear to the Upper End, then over to the Rocky Point.
After all that riding I was more than ready to get down when they finally stopped at the Middle Field to change and set the water in the growing alfalfa.
I HAD to get DOWN!
Riding so much hurts my bum leg, you see.
Down I went.
I sorta kinda hung out with Mom and Dad watching and waiting for a time when I could slip away and get some of the news out on the farm.
Good. They are busy packing siphon tubes, setting water…I’m off!
Oh! Look…a bunny. Darn. It hopped away too fast.
Oh, well… Quail!
Cool!
OOPS! I think I scared it.
Moving on now… PHEASANT!
I jumped back fast,
that bird was ON a MISSION!
When I jumped back the pheasant screamed and hollered I scared him so bad.
Then he took off in a run, flapping wings and he was gone.
About that time I heard: “BOOMER! WHERE ARE YOU? TIME TO GO!”
I turned my old ancient self around and heading back to Mom and Dad who were waiting for me.
Then Mom picked me up, put me back down on my very soft fluffy rug…Mom had put a 1” thick piece of foam under my rug and over the ply-wood so my hip wouldn’t hurt like it used to.
I squirmed down, snuggled up to Mom; we were off!
Over to the old Apricot tree (lots of apricots way up high), checked out the ditches in the horse pasture, Mom and Dad petted T’Ata and Glory,
then home again…
Nice. (I have to walk with my tail down when I hurry too fast)

Smart idea on the foam. Your mom takes good care of you. Glad you got to sneak away for a little adventure. Tell that pheasant he’s sure pretty!

Boomer, this sounds like you had a very nice outing even if you couldn’t check out all the news you wanted to. It sure sounds as if Mom takes very good care of you.
