While Out Forking the Ends of the Just Cut Hay Field — Sunday, August 9, 2026

I went out early in the morning to fork the ends of the just-cut hay into a baling row

When a skein of geese flew overhead.  This is an old photo, but it looked like this.  All loud and wonderful.

Is Autumn coming soon?

Lots and lots of summer birds are leaving our area, over 40, 000 in one night.

This is August. And the days are HOT. (103-105*)  BUT —- HOPE is on the horizon.

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

  1. Java Bean: “Fall is in sight! Our Dada’s family back East says a lot of the birds have left already. Maybe they know something we don’t …”

Charlee: “He also says that last picture reminds him of an old INXS song called ‘Red Red Sun’! We don’t know who INXS is but apparently they had a lot of stuff.”
