About Dayphoto

My name is Linda Brown. I live on a farm on the western slope of Colorado, in the high mountain desert. I’ve lived here all my life, hailing back four generations on my father’s side. Today I blog about our farm, the everyday activities that keep the farm going. I also write about my thoughts and dreams and goals. On Friday’s I always write about TLC Cai-Cai. Our sweet kitty who helps keep the farm safe. And Boo Berry Betty, a breeder dog learning to be a Farm Dog! The lovely thing about blogging it opens the world up for all of us to reach out and meet people from many different cultures and different ways of life. You can find me every day (but Saturday) at https://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com/ Your Friend on a Western Colorado Farm, Linda Brown

Before a Shadow Closes In — Monday, December 6, 2021

While the hawk is hunting in another part of the farm

The bunnies (and I)

Enjoy a sweet little interlude

In the silence of

The equipment area.

FINISHED!!! Harvest Wrapped Up for 2021 — Sunday, December 5, 2021

We finished!

Before the weather changed

Without anything breaking down

Without too (TOO) long of waits in the long line to unload at the Elevator

Finished!

Last load!

YAY!

The Adventures of TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-OWL!, Friday December 3, 2021

I was outside,

I LOVE OUTSIDE!

YES, I DO!!!

I was outside, looking for mice

So, I looked here

And I looked there

Then I headed into my garden

I looked

And

I SAW

POUNCE!!!

As I was starting to play with my food

(That is the best part)

Playing with my food

I heard

WHOOOOOOOOOOO HHHOOOOOOOOO

Looking up I saw

OWL!

When Mindy lived here, she said NEVER EVER Trust and OWL

I dropped what I was doing and ran to the house!

OWL! MOM! OWL!

MOM!

Good, Mom let me in.

SAFE!

Passing Over Head —- Thursday, December 2, 2021

Sunlight bouncing off the weeds

In silence

The hunt to find food

This is our hawk…he/she has the damaged tail feather.  It must be damaged at the root for it’s always this way over all the years.

I leave before I hear the dull thud…of contact

So, that, I only enjoy the beauty.

Caught in a Wind Storm — Wednesday, December 1, 2021

We had a bit of a wind, the other day…a whipping you in the face wind

Not a gentle hum of rustling leaves wind

But a PICK everything UP and FLING it around party wind

A get dirt in your face, eyes, and ears  —   wind.

Sometimes winds are like that—over the top, flicking you with ‘stuff’.

As the Land Passes Toward Slumber — Tuesday, November 30, 2021

We give Thanks for the gifts that God(s) give to us

During this growing twilight time of year

For every season there is something to provide joy for each of us

Blessings of abundance

As the Autumn fades and we begin

our long ride into the dark of Winter.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Up There, All Swirly and Curly—Monday, November 29, 2021

There!  Right there in the crisp air was a large swirly, twirly cloud

Magic so close.  Almost touchable!

WOW!

The Magic of a Storm Arriving — Sunday, November 28, 2021

Under a thick black cloud

With chilly fingers of wind

Frosty clouds of rain and sleet dropped into the canyons

And across the Uncompahgre Plateau

The sun behind the clouds

Making everything glisten like an opal

The clouds like sparkling gems stones

Even unto the very end of the light of day.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

The Adventures of TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-Dad is Driving a Big Scary THING, Friday, November 26, 2021

I was just minding my business—

you know, checking out the farmyard

Looking for mice

Chasing a bird or 60

When Dad came out,

got into that big THING that makes lots of noise

And headed to my CORNFIELD

Everything is TERRIBLY SCARY right now!

RUN!!!!!
