About Dayphoto

My name is Linda Brown. I live on a farm on the western slope of Colorado, in the high mountain desert. I’ve lived here all my life, hailing back four generations on my father’s side. Today I blog about our farm, the everyday activities that keep the farm going. I also write about my thoughts and dreams and goals. On Friday’s I always write about TLC Cai-Cai. Our sweet kitty who helps keep the farm safe. And Boo Berry Betty, a breeder dog learning to be a Farm Dog! The lovely thing about blogging it opens the world up for all of us to reach out and meet people from many different cultures and different ways of life. You can find me every day (but Saturday) at https://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com/ Your Friend on a Western Colorado Farm, Linda Brown

After the Smoke Cleared — Tuesday, June 15, 2021

The Veering wind sweep the smoke from the sky (it will be back, I’m sure)

I saw, in the muted and filtered light,—the moon and a star —probably a planet but I don’t know which one. 🙂

The light was soft and kind and beautiful.

From my world to your heart,

The Sad, Sad Fact About Summer — Monday, June 14, 2021

A human-caused fire near Moab, Utah

Called the Pack Creek fire

Was caused by someone leaving (!!!!!!?????) a campfire unattended.

The smoke from Moab’s Pack Creek area filled the sky in a horrible, ugly, beautiful, sad way.

Unattended.  So unnecessary.  So sad.

Sometimes I Think the World has Gone Mad — Sunday, June 13, 2021

Then, when things seem so over-the-top in the news.

I find a heart!

And I understand…the world hasn’t gone mad…only some of the people living On the earth are a tad over-the-top!

From my little spot at our farm, to your heart 🙂 .

The Adventures of Mindy on Friday—-Why Worry , Friday, June 11, 2021

“Well, this is a fine thing,” Mom said, getting out of the car with her hand in a massive pink thing. “I looks like I actually fractured my joint in my right hand, in the little finger.”

“Six weeks of PINK and metal on my hand” Mom explained as she bent down to pet me.

What is a six weeks, I wondered to myself; what is that heavy thing on Mom’s hand?

O………….purrrr………..turn over on my tummy……………..purrrr…keep petting Mom this feels good.

Mom scratches me under the chin.  Then gets up. “Well, it’s going to slow down some things, but not going for walk with you, Mindy Lou Sue.  Let me put my stuff down inside, then you and I can go for a walk. I think my mind NEEDS a walk.”

I jumped up on the lawn chair and waited.

Soon Mom was back outside—off we went.

Out to the chicken house

Over to the shed

Behind the woodpile

We took a small walk-about. I don’t get why Mom is worried, she can still pet me and do walkabouts. Life is still Good.

There, Just There, Glimmering in the Sky — Thursday, June 10, 2021

Last evening, as the day softened into the evening, I saw a Rip in the sky

Or possibly something ghostly–glistening in the sunlight and dancing along with the clouds

The tiny white speck is a jet going west

It stayed a long, long time, never changing until a cloud passed over it and I forgot to look again.

I wonder what it was. 🙂

The Why of Why I Love Summer — Wednesday, June 9, 2021

There is just so much to see!  The Dust twirling in the desert

Little songbirds making nests in security cameras 🙂

Being out on the shimmering ditch banks —yes I do enjoy irrigating

The sky….oh, yes I already told you that :)…

The world is full of color

I think that is what I love the most…COLOR!

Color everywhere (and warmth) and sun and well, just everything!

From my world to your heart,

Linda

The Beautiful Days of Summer Evenings and Summer Mornings — Tuesday, June 8, 2021

The world is happy in Summer

At least to my eyes

The beautiful clouds

Surrounding us

The soft caress of wind on our faces

The wonderful scents of burgeoning plants

The days of the over-harsh wind have subsided

The pivotal time of the day

Just as the sun comes up

Just as the sun goes down

The light spilling all around us.

It’s all so very peaceful.

Summer, Ah, Summer, My Most Favorite time of the Year — Monday, June 7, 2021

The fields are no longer bare

The need for a coat no longer there

The light in the sky

Showcases color in all its forms.

The top comes off

The cold goes away.

Yay for Summer!

Linda

In the Mild Early Summer Morn— Sunday, June 6, 2021

A little Robin Red-Breast busily gathered bits of weeds and such

Then he/she swooped down and grabbed a big fat bug, not far from where I sat

Later in the warming sunshine he/she gathered nesting material from the riches I seemed to just be ‘throwing away’

What a fun experience I had…sharing the morning with this busy little bird(s)!
