My name is Linda Brown. I live on a farm on the western slope of Colorado, in the high mountain desert. I’ve lived here all my life, hailing back four generations on my father’s side. Today I blog about our farm, the everyday activities that keep the farm going. I also write about my thoughts and dreams and goals. On Friday’s I always write about TLC Cai-Cai. Our sweet kitty who helps keep the farm safe. And Boo Berry Betty, a breeder dog learning to be a Farm Dog! Black Canyon

Kath and Daryl http://hafdozenreasons.blogspot.com/ stopped by on their way home to South Dakota, and I must say what a great time we had.

Terry took us to the Black Canyon; then they came and looked over the farm and the farm equipment.

Terry got to ride in the semi and I got take a peak inside the home-away-from-home a long-distance trucker has.

How much fun to get to meet face to face with friends we have made through this amazing blogging world!

I Stand All Amazed

Where we live I can walk right out of the corrals and take photos of some of the most beautiful mountain ranges in Colorado

Terry is after a little bit bigger combine, which is diesel powered! He has now found just the right one! If everything goes right Saturday we will be the new owners of ‘new to us’ combine.

New Water Line

He hired our neighbor and his backhoe to come fix it.

What.A.Job!

First he had to move the carport. He did this all by himself, with pipes and the trailer. Since I was at work I didn’t see him do it (or help him) but when I got home, there it was-balancing on the trailer.

New Water Line

Last year the main water line to our house broke, leaving us with a $500 water bill and a huge job to fix. Ever since that time Terry has been worrying about the water line to corral breaking….so before it could….
He hired our neighbor and his backhoe to come fix it.

Rhode Island Red Roosters

Aren’t they just the best? They are gentle, kind to their hens (I have two roosters and 15 hens) and randomly try to be a bigger rooster than my husband and I. So far they are still lower than us on the pecking order.

One of the roosters likes to stand up here and keep guard. They really do a nice job of being a rooster!

Irrigation Water

Our irrigation water is turned off and on yearly. We start getting water as soon as someone calls for it, or for sure by March 30^th

Then the last week of October it is turned off

Winter is sad and lonely without the sparkling sound of water flowing down the canal toward Grand Junction

Rain, Rain and More Rain

We have a storm coming in AGAIN! I guess it is winter, oops late fall, but ….I really was enjoying the sun. The storm is supposed to hit here this evening with blowing rain and snow.

This is the storm getting closer and closer to us. You can see Hay Stack Mountain in the clouds. Once the storm leaves the canyons, it will head our way….
