About Dayphoto

My name is Linda Brown. I live on a farm on the western slope of Colorado, in the high mountain desert. I’ve lived here all my life, hailing back four generations on my father’s side. Today I blog about our farm, the everyday activities that keep the farm going. I also write about my thoughts and dreams and goals. On Friday’s I always write about TLC Cai-Cai. Our sweet kitty who helps keep the farm safe. And Boo Berry Betty, a breeder dog learning to be a Farm Dog! The lovely thing about blogging it opens the world up for all of us to reach out and meet people from many different cultures and different ways of life. You can find me every day (but Saturday) at https://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com/ Your Friend on a Western Colorado Farm, Linda Brown

Hello. My name is Boo Berry Betty BROWN! — Friday, June 9, 2023

Hello.  My name is Boo Berry Betty BROWN!

Mom says I get to tell MY story:

I have been here since June 14, 2022

It took me a long-time to understand what I am supposed to do.

My life before was babies.  I was bred by my first breeder when I was 9 months old.

Then there were puppies.

Then a little break where I really missed my babies. BUT—

The boy dog took care of me missing my puppies and gave me more.

This went on for twice a year for two years.

Then—-I went to live with another breeder.  A really nice man.

BUT—the story was the same.

Boy dog.

Puppies.

Boy dog

Puppies.

For a year and ½.

I lost my last two litters—–

My really nice man breeder asked my MOM!!!

YAY! MOM!!!

If she would like to take me home; he was retiring me.

YAY!
Now all that puppy stuff is over.

I have a new purpose in life:

  • I have learned to not wet the floor
  • I have learned how to do my private stuff OUTSIDE (having to do my private stuff where I lived and ate was kind of rough)
  • Guard Mom and Dad
  • and sometimes TLC Cai-Cai. (Just sometimes)
  • follow Mom everywhere! And I do mean EVERYWHERE!
  • Growl at the door when something or someone strange is there
  • BARK LOUD when someone or something strange shows up

  • Help put up the chickens — only when Mom tells me to—I have to remember ONLY if Mom asks me to help
  • I have enjoyed immensely going on walks with Mom.
  • I have learned I can RUN!!! And I can RUN FAST!

  • I have grown to the spot I can go outside by myself for a short while.       Not long I get worried about Mom and the house, and my soft beds
  • I have finally learned how to sit on a lap and relax
  • I can ride on Mom’s lap in the car or truck

  • And I can ride in my special blue box on the four-wheeler

  • I love playing with my very own cat—TLC Cai-Cai

  • TLC and I go outside together every morning. We play a little bit, then TLC goes off to do Cat stuff and I go to the backdoor and wait for Mom to call me 😊

  • I LOVE TO RUN!!! I even make up things to run too

  • I have learned to jump over the cement ditches (boy is that ever scary)
  • I have met my dog cousins and my human relations

Mom says I am no longer a kennel dog-I am a FARM DOG!

YAY ME!

Boo Berry Betty (my registered name) BROWN— My legal name!

But Mom and everyone just calls me Boo Berry!

Boo Berry

TLC Cai-Cai —- My Story, Friday, June 2, 2023

Mom says I, TLC Cai-Cai, can have a whole page to myself—to tell all of you, my story!

Mine!

Who I am and How I came to live on the farm!

At first, I did not know I lived on a farm. Because—well I did not.

I lived with Mommy.

But something terrible happened.

I didn’t even get to have all the proper time with Mommy when someone picked me up and threw me out-the-door.

I used to live with Mommy, we had food, and I had Mommy, and we played, and I learned about the potty box…everything was nice.

Then suddenly someone with big boots (I hate big boots; I scream and yell and try to kill big boots when I see them) booted me out the door.

I wandered around for a long time.

It was terribly scary and very, frightening.  There were huge loud BIG things that went by me very fast I would try to run away, but I was too little to run fast.

This went on for a long-time.  EONS! Forever!

Then a special thing happened.

My new OLDEST human sister found me walking in the parking lot where she parks to go to work…I meowed LOUD so she would see me.

And I walked toward her. Screaming all the time!

She saw me!

YAY!

I spent the rest of the very long day with my new BIG sister at her beauty salon getting held and petted by all sorts of nice people.

BUT I WAS HUNGRY!

I tried to tell my new person how hungry I was, but, well, I had to wait.

When we were on the way to my NEW MOM AND DAD, I screamed and yelled and cried because my tummy was terribly empty and I wanted some food.

As soon as my new Mom saw me, she opened a can of YUMMY soft cat food.

She gave me a tiny bit.

I ATE IT ALL GONE!

Then in a few minutes, I got another tiny bit.

Then I had to wait a few more minutes.

(It took me a little while because I had to eat a small amount then go play, come back eat some more until I got full.)

Once I got my tummy full, and I had a big play with my new felt bunny, I fell asleep and slept a long, long time.

When I woke up, I knew I was SAFE!

I had a small problem of needing to suck on something just before I got to sleep because I was weaned too soon. I was around 6-7 weeks old when I was tossed out to fend for myself.

But Mom bought me a special furry bunny, which I sucked on for a couple of weeks—then I stopped.  Never to suck on anything ever again.

Mom and Dad call me TLC, (Terry and Linda’s Cat) TLC CAI-CAI (sounds like Kay-Kay).

I am a boy!  A big tough strong BOY!

I like to do STUFF—I run through the house, I hide, and I try to get Boo Berry to play with me. (It never works)

I hang out with Dad on the farm—remember I am a big cat now!

An adult.

I like to stay outside all day long.

Then I come in as the sun starts to go down, to get yummy food and take a long, long nap.

I make sure I am with Mom everywhere she goes. (If she is outside).

And if she does not get me breakfast first thing in the morning, I TELL HER!

We have a very special understanding of things, Mom, and me.

Anyway.

Boo Berry Betty and I have a very unique relationship. I run at her and try to play, I jump on her and we chase each other, and we play hide-and-seek.  Lots!

I do whatever I want in the house.  And I do whatever I want outside—like eat the mice I kill.  Yum

Anyway,

Life is WONDERFUL—

I am so glad to have Dad and Mom, and now Boo Berry!

P.S. Boo Berry came when I was about 3 ½ years old.  She is smaller than me so I get to be the boss.

And Mom says that is enough.  Boo Berry gets to tell her own story.

(And you can follow us every Friday while we tell fun happenings on the farm!)

TLC Cai-Cai

TLC for short 😊

Dream, Action, Coming True — Thursday, June 1, 2023

The cornfields are turning green

The baby corn is popping up all in a row

The last of the golden sunlight lighting up each seed

The Alfalfa fields are getting close to the first cutting of hay

And the grass/alfalfa hay field is due to be cut anytime now.

We sing daily—Rain, rain go away.

Please.

Just until all the grass hay and the alfalfa hay are stacked in the haystacks, please.

Please!

I Love Shadows — Wednesday, May 31, 2023

Blue–my favorite color mixed with Lavender/Purple

The Color of the shadows

The early morning light fills the whole farm in shadows (our house in the distance)

The golden hour mingles shadows onto the buildings

6:00 a.m. Shadows brighten the sunlight bits and pieces

A walk into the shadow is very cooling

Noon day shadows are made up of tree leaves

And great little hidden spots!

Shadows I love how they brighten the earth.

From my world to your heart,

Linda
