About Dayphoto

My name is Linda Brown. I live on a farm on the western slope of Colorado, in the high mountain desert. I’ve lived here all my life, hailing back four generations on my father’s side. Today I blog about our farm, the everyday activities that keep the farm going. I also write about my thoughts and dreams and goals. On Friday’s I always write about TLC Cai-Cai. Our sweet kitty who helps keep the farm safe. And Boo Berry Betty, a breeder dog learning to be a Farm Dog! The lovely thing about blogging it opens the world up for all of us to reach out and meet people from many different cultures and different ways of life. You can find me every day (but Saturday) at https://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com/ Your Friend on a Western Colorado Farm, Linda Brown

Opening New Land — Wednesday, April 12. 2023

Terry has let one field sit for three years.  A chance to rest.

Now he is opening that field all rich and fallow and perfect to plant in

A lovely warm ‘new’ piece of soil to grow many nice large plants

Our air has the smell of freshly turned soil.  It’s a delightful smell.

O! That Lovely Lovely Moon — Tuesday, April 11, 2023

The lovely cool silver light

Outlining the clouds in the sky

Slowly growing and glowing

Whispering beauty all around.

Love, love, love the full moon.

Always,

After the Wind, After Easter —- Monday, April 10, 2023

Terry went out to check the plowed fields and guess what?!

It was time to roll them down.

Let this set a day or two, depending on what the soil tells him, and it will be time to level the fields.

Spring work.  This are lots of steps in it.

But they are all happy steps!

The Wind was Huge and Full of Dirt — Thursday, April 6, 2023

Crazy wind.

65 mph gusts.

Then the next day we had squalls of snow and wind and grapple.

A rough Spring-time storm, that is for certain and for sure

Monday and Tuesday…terrible wind.

Linda

WIND!!! BIG WIND —- Wednesday, April 5, 2023

Monday we had terrible winds!  Big Bad Winds

It blew in another cold front.

Winter is trying very hard to linger!  But I think this was its final good-bye.

Shhhhh—-Be Very Still and Watch, Tuesday, April, 4, 2023

A pair of Ringed-Neck Doves

Having a wee gossip about the cold (and a quick preening of the feathers)

Shhh.  Don’t let the cat or the dog see them.  Or they will fly far away.

Shhhhh.

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

Golden Silence —- Monday, April 3, 2023

OH!  That beautiful  sinking sun

The clouds gently clearing

Filling the sky with impossible colors; phenomenal and intense!

From my world to your heart,

Linda
