About Dayphoto

My name is Linda Brown. I live on a farm on the western slope of Colorado, in the high mountain desert. I’ve lived here all my life, hailing back four generations on my father’s side. Today I blog about our farm, the everyday activities that keep the farm going. I also write about my thoughts and dreams and goals. On Friday’s I always write about TLC Cai-Cai. Our sweet kitty who helps keep the farm safe. And Boo Berry Betty, a breeder dog learning to be a Farm Dog! The lovely thing about blogging it opens the world up for all of us to reach out and meet people from many different cultures and different ways of life. You can find me every day (but Saturday) at https://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com/ Your Friend on a Western Colorado Farm, Linda Brown

The Light Is Changing — Wednesday, March 8, 2023

Spring really is coming—-really really it is

Instead of pink just before the sun sets

The sky turns purple.

Tranquil, purple whispers of Spring.

Sunday and Monday a Big Wind Blew — Tuesday, March 7, 2023

Melting most of the big snow drifts!

OH! YAY!

But the weather people are saying another Snow Storm is due in here Thursday!

Melt and warmer temps and even a drying wind is a good sign of Spring.

The Backbone of the Woodstove —Monday, March 6, 2023

Is getting the logs split and into the stove!

We do it together– he lifts and splits. I take the splits and stack!

Then haul it into the house. (I like to use the rounds and the splits as a mix in the firebox)

Wood…it’s been a fall/winter/ early Spring continuing job.

Treading on Careful Paws — Thursday, March 2, 2023

I just THOUGHT the snow was going away—

May be an image of map, sky and text that says 'March is in like a Lion! Then this happened

The weatherman was right!!!

My lawn is was becoming

LAWN!!!

Happiness — Wednesday, March 1, 2023

We are melting

No more snow in many places

Gradually

Gradually

That big snow is becoming

Not so big

And that way, way, way too cold

Is going away so Boo Berry and I —see me way back there) can walk on DIRT!

Or mud or other things.

Happiness is the small stuff—don’t ya think?

Those Angelic Little Feathered Friends of Ours —- Monday, February 27, 2023

These are some of the tiny winter birds

Who spend their winter (here)

With us.

Often living with us year-round. 🙂

These little feathered friends have great a capacity for suffering through the cold

And never complain!

Always, always they chirp and sing—

Adding tranquillity to our days

Their radiant joy always lends itself to our hearts

I always gift them with sweet-scented seeds

For, after all, they need to keep heat in their bodies

And a full tummy to go to bed on 🙂

They are a peaceful and

a joyful part of each and every day!

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda
