Three Roads Diverged in a Yellow Cornfield — Monday, January 8, 2023

Three roads diverged in a yellow cornfield
Sorry Boo Berry and I could not travel all
We stood at the center and looked down at all three
Then took the one with the best smells to claim,
And yet, free of big globs of goop
We, Boo Berry and I traveled far,
The sun warm upon us and the air very chill
Trodding slowly back
Get smells of news in the doggie nose
And the doggie coat free of gloopy stuff–
Ah, yes, that is the road we chose–
One free of the leavings of cows, but still full of news.
Which made all the difference.

Winter Week Three, Sunday, January 7, 2023

Third week!  There are only 12 weeks in a season—we are moving forward.

Rather like the fence line—forward we go—down the straight and narrow—while over there, yes, just over there the road is doing whatever it feels like doing (sorta like the weather, don’t ya think?)—first straight then a sharp turn…roads and weather—you just can’t trust them to stay straight.  Not like a fence line!

Week Three!  YAY!

The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-COWS! COWS! COWS!!!, Friday, January 5, 2023

Mom grabbed me up and loaded me into the pick-up with Dad and off we went

OH! MY! GOSH! HUGE! GIANT! ANIMALS!!!  I sat on the pick-up seat and refused to get out!

Did I say HUGE!!!

THEY ARE HUGE!!!

Boo Berry

Well, well, well, looks what has arrived on the farm!

Guess I had better be careful to not get around all those hooves.

TLC

WOOF! WOOF!  Come on Mom!  We want in, too many big things on the farm!

I am a Lover of Hot, Summer Days—Thursday, January 4, 2023

But, I must admit, I have finally, finally, finally

Grown to the point, I am enjoying this winter. Who would have ever thought so?  Not me, even as late as last Spring.

Last summer was beautiful and intense

But the haying about did in both Terry and I.  We took off 1,000 bales of alfalfa three times, and 400 bales of grass three times—600 bales of alfalfa/grass mix three times and the heat, plus the work about did us in. Thankfully, every bale sold just about as soon as I put up the advertisement.  YAY!

By October we were overly tired.

The corn harvest had its share of concern, but at least the days were cooler.  That helped.

January and winter bring cold and a type of dreamy state.  Yes, there is equipment to work on and other bits of this and that to fix, but the weeds are no longer an issue, getting the water to the plants finished, and ensuring all the crops stay healthy is over—-and no lawn to mow!!!  PLUS WORK ON SOMETHING THAT BROKE DOWN AS IT WAS BEING USED!

Now it’s keeping the house warm, and resting a bit.

Soon the cows will come and the farm will be a live with activity.

Until then, as I said—we will work on getting the equipment ready for spring, keep the wood pile high, and do other things of interest.

Winter, Week Two — Wednesday, January 3, 2023

(I saw a sundog this morning 🙂 )

We are Week Two of winter—winter  that time of dark, cold, short days.

(An older photo of a sundog)

Still, winter is important — it’s a time of rest; in so many ways.

(From the archives—-I watch for sundogs all year long.  We see them the most in winter)

Sundog!  Colder days are coming—(also the sunlight will start to come back (YAY))!!!

(another from the archives)

Winter, we have 12 weeks of winter; two weeks are now over, or at least ALMOST over.

(This was the winter of 2015)

Moving forward—one day at a time!

A Last of the Year Cruise—-Sunday, December 31, 2023

On a very, very cold morning–10* we all met for an end of the year cruise

Dave and Molly put the cruise together —as a special trip for her Birthday!  Happy Birthday, Molly!)

We went to Jammers after the two-hour cruise

Where a lovely waitress gladly took our group photos.

A fun day was had by all!

The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-I Have Stuff TO DO!!! TLC Cai-Cai (ME TOO!!! Boo Berry) Friday, December 29, 2023

I know it was cold—12* yesterday and colder (feel) today.

It doesn’t matter

I have stuff to do

“HURRY MOM!  YOU ARE SLOWING US DOWN!”

OH!  MINE!

“COME SEE MOM!!!”

“Those are leaves, TLC”, Mom exclaimed

So?

Let’s Run through the leaves–Boo Berry

“OKAY!!!” Boo Berry replied

Oh! WAIT!  I SEE SOMETHING!

“Nothing, TLC, Just leaves!  But that works for me!!” Boo Berry announced.

“Time to come in”, Mom said!

Not just yet, I replied.

“Me either,” Boo Bery sat down in the thin light of the sun.  “Me either”

So into the house, all by herself went Mom.

Yep–There is Still Green Out There, Thursday, December 28, 2023

There is plentiful Cheat Grass for when the Cows come—yummy greens to mix with the dried fodder.

And Hollyhocks, hiding in the leaves.

Come March, though, they will be brown and dried waiting for the signal to grow again.

Green is still here—gifting our eyes!

A Dance in the Sky —- Wednesday, December 27, 2023 (a Murmuration)

I was lucky, very lucky indeed

To be in the right place at the right time to watch the birds

Swoop and dive and rise again all as one

Dancing in the air

in the silver-bright sun where there is God(s)!

From my world to your heart,

Linda

The Year is Fast Closing — Tuesday, December 26, 2023

Christmas was lovely.  Our grandchildren were here–Blade from the Air Force Base in Mississippi and Linkin from the Air Force Base in Texas.  Just being able to have them with us at the same time is a gift all by itself.

Tallin is fast growing up—we have her for just two more school years.

Everyone came home, but our Son and his darling wife—Kalispell Montana is just too far to drive in the wintertime.  But we all FaceTimed—opening gifts together and sharing our lives with the joy and blessing of Christmas.

Thank you, everyone, for your Christmas Wishes and Anniversary Remembrances!

With heartfelt friendship to each of you,

Terry and Linda
