There are Glimmers of Love, Hope and Joy in the World Everywhere — Monday, August 28, 2023

The old Gods live with us, even now.  They provide sparkles on the water, help the fields grow/turn green/ripen, and sing to us in the morning/noon/evening.

They gather close to us all the time, but only at the edges of our lives: the edge of morning, the edge of evening; edges.

But Glimmers—now—they come in all forms, (also).

Saturday—in the mail came a hand-made card from Far Side of Fifty.

Telling me I was in her thoughts.

Glimmers of goodness abound everywhere, always.

Thank you so much, Connie!  The card was a lovely surprise-you are so talented. And your handwritten note is a true blessing.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

To Lift Your Spirits — Monday, September 5, 2022

These darling little hand-carved ornaments come to me by way of Connie

She and her husband, Gene, craved them all year long, then gift them for Christmas.

Aren’t they marvelous?  And so very creative!

Once more, THANK YOU, Connie  https://farsideoffifty.blogspot.com/

THANK YOU!  THANK you! THANK YOU!

Finishing Old Projects — Thursday, March 5, 2020

Connie from FarSide started a cleaning a project this winter, which sparked a cleaning project for me

Connie was sorting, cleaning, and going through all the stuff she had collected over the years.

I decided that it was a good idea!

So Off I went to start cleaning the upstairs.

Hmmm…I thought to myself.  Here is this whole tote of quilt squares I haven’t ever done anything with.

So —- to make a long story short…I didn’t get the upstairs cleaned, sorted or anything because I became stuck with finishing the quilt squares.

I know why I have never really quilted. It is a tad hard (for me, anyway).

So here is my latest.  A baby quilt. All hand-quilted with soft shiny blanket-binding. I find I really like the satiny blanket binding.

Two more quilts to go.  Then I will have the box of quilt squares cleaned, sorted, and finally made up.

TWO!

And it’s spring.  So we will see how long it takes me to get these two quilts done. 🙂

As for cleaning and sorting the upstairs. I guess that project—- I will start AGAIN next winter. 🙂

Linda

An Wondrous Gift from Minnesota—Wednesday, May 9, 2018

“The whole earth was brimming sunshine that morning.  She tripped along, the clear sky pouring liquid blue into her soul.”-  Theodore Dreiser, Sister Carrie

After a walk down the long lane to the mailbox, I opened the little door to the mailbox and found a package sitting there waiting for me.

Looking at the return address I realized it had come all the way from Minnesota…Connie, from the Far Side of Fifty blog

Had a fun wee contest on the leaving of winter in her neck of the woods.  She actually had two contests.

Anyway I won one  and what an amazing prize I received

A beautiful hand-created card

And this amazing wood carving of a darling little house (I can even put a light in the back to light up the windows).

Craving wood is an amazing art…to look at a piece of wood and ‘see’ what it is trying to tell you what it wants to be—then tiny shaving, by tiny bit being able to bring the wood to into life as a new object is wonderful.

Thank you so much, Connie!

Love,

Linda
