As Light Plays Across the Land — Monday, May 17, 2021

A darling little bunny dashed in front of us as we were irrigating

I’ve seen bunnies dashing this way and that in the warming sunshine

Most of the time in the Upper End.

This is amazing because this is also the coyotes’ favorite place to hunt.

Oftentimes in the green-dappled light (I put up a camera to see where the coyotes have been hanging out.)

I see little squirrels…I like to think they are Stanley

And Stewart.

The hawks hunt the land.

In reality, all is peaceful and calm and just perfect.

Sometimes You Can Actually See and Feel —- Sunday, March 14, 2021

The quiet and peaceful way of our lives

A wee hush that gives a sense of calm and order.

Whispering all around.

While Looking in the Vast Sweep of the Evening Sky—-Thursday, December 14, 2017

I had gathered the last of the firewood for the night and decided to take a wee walk out to the edge of the corrals and back.

The air was rich in bursts of sharp little ice crystals; cooling everything down.  The sky  lighting up the world, in that finale burst, before the dark of the night rose up to cloak each and everyone of us.

It felt good to walk a small space, Boomer and Mindy along for the adventure.  Although, it wasn’t going to be much of and adventure…still it was a chance to clear my mind… a chance to reach beyond myself and the immediate needs of whatever that moment was.

There I stood, at the back of the farm yard — in the now empty hay stack yard letting the glow of the days ending fill me, the silence of the sleeping earth rest my body; the steady movement of the cows as they fed upon the leavings of last years crops.

Peace. Tranquility. Calm. Ease.

Then the light faded and  it was time to go back in…start a little light supper (we are old now and eat very little at night)…and give thanks for this amazing time of life I get to live in.

From my heart to your world,

Linda

The Days are Full of Peace—-Tuesday, May 31, 2016

Coming--BackSo far the days have started out warm—then they cloud over, with a sharp cool wind; by sunset we are back to warmth.

Cultivating-1In Between, we sometimes have to wear a jacket or a coat.

Irrigating-in-the-rainThe Uncompahgre Plateau even has full blown storms hinting that we are about to get drenched.

EdgeBut today…this morning… the sun is shining and spreading heat across the land.

UsBoomer and I followed Terry up to the end of the Middle Field where we are removing a fence.

FencesThe air was full of bird songs, the squawk of pheasants, the buzzing of bees…I always find being up here soothing.

Little-Creek-at-the-Upper-EThere is only Terry and I and Boomer—the feeling is peace.

It is also called Home.

From my world to your heart,

Linda
