Nighttime Irrigation—Moon Music

Coming back from irrigating last night the moon was just delightful!!

We had some rain storms in the mountains that have helped (sort of) the irrigating situation.  Enough that Terry thinks he can go ahead and plant his new alfalfa field.

Don’t get me wrong, water is still short, and we are still having trouble getting the ground wet because it has been so dry.  But water in the hills brings a little more water down the canals.  Enough to put out two more tubes, or open two more gates for a short time.  If we get more rain in the hills or steady rain, that would be great.

Every little bit helps!

Sara did a cool post on Moon Music I would like to share….just perfect, just perfect.

We don’t have frogs or fireflies, but we still have the moon and last night was just beautiful.

Moon Music is right!

  1. I’m glad you got some rain. It’s cloudy a very cool this week in SW Oklahoma.

That is the best picture of the moon that I have seen!! Looks like it came from those hills…. or maybe will sit down on them. Thanks for sharing!!

  2. Colorado Springs finally got some raine night before last and yesterday as well as snow in the northern part of the county. I hope that you get some soon on the western slope. We depend upon the food you grow over here on the other side of the Divide. Enjoy your blog very much. Give the “boys” a hug.

  3. Fantastic shot of the moon! I for some reason can’t figure out how to get my camera to take the moon. I can never get it to come out!

  4. We didn’t get to see supermoon, or any moon for the last couple of nights because we’ve had nothing but clouds. I LOVE your photo.
Hope you get more rain, too. ♥

  5. I love the title, ‘Moon Music’ and your picture is beautiful. I keep my fingers crossed that areas, like ours, get moisture. It’s scary that our grass is already crunchy!
We are coming through Grand Junction either this coming Saturday or the next. Can you ‘do’ lunch?!!

  7. My husband and I love warm evenings and walking across the prairie in the moonlight. When I was a kid and lived in farming country not ranching country like now, my best friend and I had a monthly ritual. When the moon was full, we’d skitter out of bed at midnight and slip a bridle on the horses and ride the canal roads by the light of the full moon singing to the old man shining down on us. I’d guess you might call that moon music too.
