Hummingbirds July 23, 2013

I’m going to post some photos of the huge amount of hummers we have now…at least 40 visit the feeders all day long.  Feeder-2 We have the Black-chinned Hummingbird,  the Broad-tailed Hummers, Ruby-Throat, Rufous so far!

Feeder-3

I’ve tried to get a photo of all of them at once, but it is proving futile.

But still I try

In-FlightI saw a rainbow …

Rainbow-2they always give me a good feeling of…well…

Rainbow-1I guess HOPE!

Off to water my plants before the heat sucks us down to nothing.  It’s supposed to be 101* today.

  1. Inspired by you I bought a hummingbird feeder. It’s well out of the reach of the cat and Timmy, “the jaws of death” so I hope we have some diners soon.

  2. Good shots on the hummers. I think I have really dumb ones. They go right by the feeder and buzz the kitchen window! But, I still try to get them to LOOK!

  3. What a great assortment of hummers you have out west. We have only Ruby-throats east of the Mississippi, except for a straggling Rufous sighting shared from time to time.

  4. I love hummers! I love your feeders, they look like big one. I can only find little ones that don’t hold a lot of food! Your lucky to have such a variety!

  5. Just LOVE your pics of hummers….so cool! We have only seen the ruby-throated variety in my backyard. You get a ton of ’em! Sure hope your hot weather isn’t headed our way into Wisconsin. We just got rid of it!
