river.jpgWe are wet!

FloodVery wet!  And it’s still raining!

Glow-1The sunrise yesterday promised more wet later in the day.  (Red sunrise in the morning, sailor take warning)

Storm-Moving-in-3Although it did hold off most the day.  That evening we could see more storm clouds blowing our way.(Red sunset at night, sailors delight. ?)

Yep! Right about 6 in the morning we had rolling thunder and large cracks of lightening, then …

WetRain! In fact it’s raining as I write this.

BUT there is a wind with this very wet storm. The weather people are saying this storm will move out of here tonight with wind gusts up to 25 m.p.h.

Rabbit-Brush-2Then temperatures will dip to 25-35 degrees.  I do believe Summer will be officially over after these very wet storms get out of here.

The weather people are also saying we have several days of sunshine in the near future…I’ll take it.  I’m a sunshine kind of person!

DrainTerry dug little ditches so the water can run into the canal–which reminds me that the canal is clear to the brim…

river.jpgIt’s going to take a spell to get us dry again.  That is for sure!

Your friend on a lake that used to be a farm 🙂 🙂

  1. We’ll gladly take any rain you can send this way. We’ve had the driest September since records started being kept in the 1870s. It’s a shame the weather seems to go from one extreme to another; it would be nice to have a mixture of sunshine and rain.

  2. Goodness, Linda, your place looks like mine did two weeks ago!!! Hip boots seem the order of the day for you! And boots are in order for Boomer…pretty muddy feet! We’ll pray for the rain to stop at your house. I have had 9.2″ of the wet stuff since the 5th of Sept. It has been sunny and nice for a few days, however, we are to have a cold front come through this evening with 25-30 mph north winds. To be strong winds all day tomorrow, too. In the 40’s tomorrow and Friday nights. Here comes Fall!

    Take care, my friend. Blessings!

  3. Oh wow! You got water running up hill!
We ran into a little rain on our way to Seattle yesterday. It’s been a long time since I’ve driven n the rain! Washed all the dust off my car! 🙂 no nothing predicted here….70’s during the day, 40’s at night. It’ll come when it’s ready I guess….

  4. I feel like such a wuss admitting this, but I have a love hate relationship with rain. I love it when I’m inside with a book looking at all that gray wetness. I hate it when I’m under it. Rain-face all the way. Ick!!!

  5. Well I hope it clears up and you all are none-the-worse for wear. Hoping that the other farmers will be able to finish without a big loss this year.
    Take care! ♥

  6. Oh my, Linda! Dry weather can’t arrive soon enough for you guys. We had some rain, but nothing like you’ve had. Dry thoughts coming your way 🙂

  7. Wow! I guess when it rains it pours! It’s been pretty nice around here, lately, but wouldn’t you know it – on Sunday, I’m supposed to be going into New York City for an outdoor craft fair at Lincoln Center, and RAIN is predicted! Ugh. We may change our plan and go on Sunday.

  8. Ho hum, I’m bracing myself for the same sort of thing in about a month’s time. In the meantime, I’ll try and send over some of our sunshine and longer days to help dry out the corn.

  9. We have had rain for the last eight days, it is pretty soggy here in Florida. We do need it, the water table is really low. Farmers are blessing the extra water, maybe just a little more spread out.

  10. We are starting to dry out here as well. Mom mentioned driving through rain in your section of the country yesterday but like us looks like you should start to dry out the end of the week! Hoping for more sunshine for you as well (I am the same – too much gray makes me gray).

  11. Oh my, that does the corn no good at all. Where was this rain in July? Rhetorical question obviously, but one to ask anyway. I hope your new ‘ponds’ dry up quickly and that you get a bit of Indian summer before the winds true Fall blow.
