In the Glittering sunlight
High in the air
On a crisp, bright, warm September morning
The little Barn Swallows gathered in dense clusters in the sky, then
they filled the electric lines above the canal.
All early morning they came, swooping in, resting until they rose all as one, shimmering and glittering, into the autumn sky; dipping and rising in a choreographed dance taking them away from us.
Leaving the air around our yard empty of sound.
From my world to your heart.
Linda

That many birds gathered together makes me remember Hitchcock’s movie but you make them quite benign

The cranes, chamisa, hummers and swallows. All soon to be gone till next year.
That crane photo is great – at first glance, an angel.

The little hummers are moving through…two or three each evening. This one looked just plain wore out as it came to the feeder.

YES! I love them…they build nests all over the house. We get to watch the little one hatch. There is usually three hatches.
While they are here we have NOT one Mosquito ever!

Our skies are currently filled with skeins of magpie geese, honking their way to their Wet season breeding grounds here in the north. Not that it’s very wet yet, we’ve had no rain at all for months, but it’s that time of year, and the north is where they come!

Maybe… but I don’t think so. The poor farmers, they are irrigating the new growth, and those big pumps are costing them over $700 a week to run…

Water is expensive…our water costs up more than the taxes on our place. š¦

I bet – but for our guys, water is cheaper, it’s the power to run the pumps that’s a killer. Electricity costs in Australia are among the highest in the world.
