The Adventures of Boomer, Friday, September 18, 2020

Mom and I went for a wee walk-about.

It has to be a short walk, as I don’t like to walk very far now days

Still, we did it!  It felt good.

After so long inside it felt wonderful to be able to run free in the open air.

We walked out to the cornfield.  The ears are turning down now.  The drying process is going well.

I felt like a young dog again (this was taken in 2018)

At least for a little while.

In the Sun and Clouds We Worked—Wednesday, September 18, 2019

We were over working on some fencing needs

Off and on all day yesterday

We were in the rich pastures

And along the bottom of the hillsides

Back and forth, checking fences, bringing things needed to repair them, bringing trash back home

It was a good feeling to be out in the golden world,

The air was spiced with the mix of weeds, wild alfalfa, and corn pollen

The sun warmed the day and a cooling breeze kept us refreshed

The air is full of sounds of fat pollen-covered bees, nasty grasshopper wings, and the fluttering of butterflies.

Then over-head, in the middle of a large color muting cloud, was the first of the big winter birds; the Canada Geese!

Winter is not far away now.

Welcome Back You Big Beautiful Birds!

There in the Star-Flexed Sky—-Tuesday, September 18, 2018

Boomer and I went for wee walk last night (and a couple of nights ago)

Mindy following along behind, besides, in front, sometimes hidden, sometimes right at my feet

We went when the moon was just a sliver, followed by a shining star

I got it in my head to try and take a photo or two of the stars shining down on us as we walked along…the orange lights at the bottom of the photo are the house lights way over the mesa and down in the holler from our farm

It was surprisingly fun to soar up above the earth with my camera

This is Venus shining gloriously in the west.

Someday I would love to have a camera which could take better photos of that wonderous sky at night.

But until I am very rich…I will enjoy the camera I have…

and my wee walks

with very good friends

As we explore the beauty of the night!

From my world to your heart,

P.S.  That is the pinto bean header on the pinto bean combine at night.  I thought it was rather neat looking!

The Sky Diffusing in Pale Light—Tuesday, September 18, 2017

Together we went out to check the last field of pinto beans…are they ready to be pulled, is the dew just right, is it time?

We decided it was time.

Finished!  All the pinto beans are pulled!

If the weather holds we will be combining the first two fields come Thursday!

This last field must have two weeks to dry.

Hopefully the rains stay away!  Just for spell…just until the last load of pinto beans is at the Beanery!  Hopefully!

A Time of Magic—Monday, September 18, 2017

In the Glittering sunlight

High in the air

On a crisp, bright, warm September morning

The little Barn Swallows gathered in dense clusters in the sky, then

they filled the electric lines above the canal.

All early morning they came, swooping in, resting until they rose all as one, shimmering and glittering, into the autumn sky; dipping and rising in a choreographed dance taking them away from us.

Leaving the air around our yard empty of sound.

From my world to your heart.
