We are going on with more and more rain, snow in the high country, and
And a chill the little summer birds are not used to experiencing
Although my yard and flowers are rather enjoying their new fate of cool,
(cold) wet rainy days and nights
As for me, my heart yearns for sunshine
Still, I must marvel at the amazing beauty of the very wet earth
And the sun on the snow-covered mountains
Each day is still a marvel. More than a deceptive dream as some would argue,
but a true gift from the God(s)
Valerie (a dearest and wonderful friend) sent me one of her favorite poems by the Sufi poet Kabir…
O servant, where dost thou seek Me?
Lo! I am beside thee.
I am neither in temple nor in mosque: I am neither in Kaaba nor
in Kailash:

We heard that Denver got 10 inches of snow earlier this week. Did you get any of that? If you’ve got too much rain please send some our way. We’ve been very ht and dry for the past two weeks. The poem Vadarae sent is beautiful.

I think all seasons are shifting a bit. Later, longer, wetter, dryer, cooler, hotter. We can’t rely on traditional dates any more, it seems. Mother Earth is turning over in her sleep, and the bedclothes are all disturbed!

Oh my! Those iris! The second one looks like Iris pallida, which used to be grown as orris root. Do you happen to know the name of the first iris? Are there two different iris in that picture? It looks like sort of like ‘Los Angeles’ but without the pronounced blue blotch in the middle. (It is partly very pale blue, but with slight markings.)

I used to know all the names, but over time I lost them in the dark recesses of my mind. The white one is Orris root. I used to do lots of herbs.

That’s pretty excellent! I did not know there was a white orris root iris! Mine is purplish blue, and I really dig it because it came from my great grandmother’s garden. However, white happens to be my favorite color.
