Now that the corn is in the silk, the deer migrate back to the farm.
So I sat up a couple of game cameras to see if, and when, they had arrived
Deer are notorious for eating the silk off the little corn ears.
Corn has lots of predators—
Bugs, humans, skunks, raccoons, and DEER!
Yep…Here they are. 🙂 We love seeing them. Terry worries about the corn loss, but we don’t do anything about it. Some for them, some for us, is our thought.

In a very little while, that corn will be too tall for the deer anyway, the rate it’s growing…

No… they love the corn. They eat the silks, bed down in the fields (smashing the stalks to make a nice circle home, then eat the ears when the corn is in the milk. They come for the long stay.

I love that perspective of sharing some of the edges :-).

They also bed down in the middle of the corn…smashing the corn stalks and making round circles. It must be safe in there.

You’re much more tolerant about deer eating corn silk than I am about deer eating roses.

As long as they stay out of your beautiful flowers, deer are a good thing.

That is a nice, young buck. We have a doe that has taken up residence with our next door neighbor. She has a mulberry tree and this doe LOVES it. Then, she curls up in the neighbor’s backyard…like she lives here.
The deer around this town…man…they come out in broad daylight. They’ve learned over the years that no one will bother them. They are nearly tame.

They can be destructive in yards, but I love seeing them and, well, knowing they are there.

They are cute but, yes…they are destructive.

Farmers take some losses with the deer…and coons too! Nice that you think of it as sharing!

They can cause huge losses, but, ….. I rather like them hanging around.
