Grass Shadow–
My! was Saturday ever cold! A skiff of snow, but the wind! Oh! My! The Wind! Right off the North Pole and heavy/hard.
I’m sure it’s heading across the States for others to feel the chill. 😦
Gradually we started warming up (a bit), thankfully!

Out we went—to the cornfields
We gathered enough ears to run through the moisture meter at Foster Farm (that is where we sell the corn, so our corn needs to meet the moisture content of their meter)
Boo Berry helped. She is a big helper! 🙂
Almost all the ears are pointing to the ground —- 15%, as soon as the moisture drops to 14% we begin!!

Mom said she was too full from yesterday and needed a wee walkabout.
So off we all went–to look at this and that
We searched for mice, and grasshoppers, and walked here and there.
Then it was home again, home again, home again.
Walkabouts are fun! Sometimes I don’t even have to walk.

We get up now BEFORE the sun scatters our dreams
With the time change the sun is different upon waking. But farmers, being farmers (and ranchers) always work from the grey part of day to the grey part of night.
Seeing the sun wake up and rise after we start is a rather cool treat!
