About Dayphoto

My name is Linda Brown. I live on a farm on the western slope of Colorado, in the high mountain desert. I’ve lived here all my life, hailing back four generations on my father’s side. Today I blog about our farm, the everyday activities that keep the farm going. I also write about my thoughts and dreams and goals. On Friday’s I always write about TLC Cai-Cai. Our sweet kitty who helps keep the farm safe. And Boo Berry Betty, a breeder dog learning to be a Farm Dog! The lovely thing about blogging it opens the world up for all of us to reach out and meet people from many different cultures and different ways of life. You can find me every day (but Saturday) at https://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com/ Your Friend on a Western Colorado Farm, Linda Brown

Rain Smudged Our World — Thursday, October 21, 2021

Over night the rain came

Bringing with it much cooler weather

And softened lovely earth, that dried very quickly.

In a Spray of Glimmering Stars — Wednesday, October 20, 2021

The lovely, lovely moon

Broke through the thick and heavy clouds

Lighting our world in silver moon dust.

Oh, how I love the full moon and how the earth turns into a magic fairyland of light.

In the Sharp Brilliant Autumn Sunshine —- Tuesday, October 19, 2021

TLC Cai-Cai and I went out to check the drying down of the corn

Still spots of green…still drying down.

Under a Cloud —- Monday, October 18, 2021

One morning we were covered in a very large cloud

The sun shining on the edges of our horizon

It was just one cloud, but oh, my was it a huge cloud!

My Garden is Gone —-Sunday, October 17, 2021

The elusive feel of Summer is over…until next year

Our woodstove providing all the heat for our old bones

The lovely warmth (even HOT) of that special time (Summer)

Now only a memory as we move into that space just before —-W.

Life at Ten Months Old—Chapter Two, It Rained, Then Tried to Snow, I Hate Being Inside, Friday with TLC Cai-Cai, October 15, 2021

Tuesday and Thursday were a huge pain in my fluffy tail.

It rained.

Then it sleeted.

Then the wind blew a gale.

Then it rained again.

There is Nothing!

I mean NOTHING!

To do inside.

So, I went outside anyway.

What a stupid idea THAT was!

Mom said I have to get used to the fact that sometimes I just won’t want to be outside.

Like Tuesday, and Thursday….

I went outside all day Wednesday; Mom had to drag me back inside. (With the promise of Kitty Candy…just say’n.)

Sigh!

I ALWAYS Love a Rainbow —- Thursday, October 14, 2021

Hi Linda

I hope you’re getting some well-earned rest after the hay marathon.  If we were neighbours, I’d be coming in for a couple bales myself, to feed my forthcoming little flock when the weather’s a bit too dry for good forage.

I’m sending you two photos. The first is a rainbow directly in the East, an unusually fiery one. We currently have loads of black clouds hanging over us; it’s 27°C/80°F at nearly 7pm, and the humidity’s at about 75%. No rain, but plenty of water in the air!  Directly in the west is one of our ‘Queensland Special’ sunsets, all garish colour and lots of it. Part of the reason the rainbow looks so red!

Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU ever so much!

Before the Black Clouds and the Freezing Temperatures, Wednesday, October 13, 2021

And just before Terry went into for his hernia operation

We winterized the corvette. 🙂

The Last of the Last, Tuesday, October 12, 2021

We had 750 bales of hay still to go to its new life as feed

Last week and Monday

It was loaded out and hauled away

Finished.

Whew!

The Year Grows Older — Monday, October 11, 2021

You can feel it in the afterglow of the sunset in the west

The world starting to grow silent

As everything gathers into itself for the long, long sleep of winter.
