About Dayphoto

My name is Linda Brown. I live on a farm on the western slope of Colorado, in the high mountain desert. I’ve lived here all my life, hailing back four generations on my father’s side. Today I blog about our farm, the everyday activities that keep the farm going. I also write about my thoughts and dreams and goals. On Friday’s I always write about TLC Cai-Cai. Our sweet kitty who helps keep the farm safe. And Boo Berry Betty, a breeder dog learning to be a Farm Dog! The lovely thing about blogging it opens the world up for all of us to reach out and meet people from many different cultures and different ways of life. You can find me every day (but Saturday) at https://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com/ Your Friend on a Western Colorado Farm, Linda Brown

Under the Full August Moon —- Thursday, August 3, 2023

We GOT rain!  Thankfully the hay is all in and stacked.

RAIN!  Beautiful wonderful Rain!

And we got a smidge of something—rainbow, sundog, something.  I’ll take a sundog–it means a cool down.

The full moon through the rain clouds was Stunningly beautiful!

Heat Weary — Wednesday, August 2, 2023

We had a wind come up—scattering tired heavy weary leaves everywhere.

We sure need a cool down.

Maybe some rain, now that the hay is in! 🙂

I love Summer, but not so much this year.

An Epiphany — Tuesday, August 1, 2023

An epiphany happens with you suddenly have a flash

And enlightenment.

Maybe this wasn’t a true epiphany, but it sure was a huge change to the massive heatwave we’ve been having.

A few little sprinkles occurred while we worked at finishing up the hay field.

Down the Road It Goes —-July 31, 2023

We are stacking as fast as we can

And it’s leaving just as fast!

The Sound in Silence—-Sunday, July 30, 2023

Have you noticed (wherever you live) there is no absolute silence anymore?

Even the most remote spots have the presence of  a roar in jets or distant traffic

(see the bunny?)

Welcome sounds of liquid bird songs—-always welcome

And the dappled shadows of gently rustling leaves in the breeze

A soothing delight.

The sounds of silence eddying gently

Bringing with it a tiny rainbow—a source of huge delight.

From my heart to your world,

Linda

The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-It’s SO Hot, Mom is Even Tired of the Heat, Friday, July 28, 2023

It’s 104-105* here with a real feel of 111-112*

It’s so hot the trees are protesting by losing their leaves

Mom says it’s hard to keep things wet.

Dad agrees with her.

Black and sun make a doggie pant

The heat makes a kitty with two coats a tad tired.

HOT!! Is the word for the week!

It Grew too Hot to Bale Hay —- Thursday, July 27, 2023

It grew too hot to bale hay—Dad only bales hay when the dew is on the hay.

When he came inside he said, “Let’s go for a ride”.

Mom picked me up and got in the pick-up with Dad;  off we went–

to the Uncompahgre Plateau where we saw lots of neat things.

At one point— Mom and Dad and I went for a walk so Mom could get a photo

Of the Lone Cone, way over there by Norwood, Nucla, and Naturita.

My Nephews Came for a Visit — Wednesday, July 26, 2023

Apollo in the back, Loki in the front.

It’s taken me a long time to accept other dogs.  I can finally do so with these two.

I’ve always liked company—dogs of all types.
