Sunday, a Day of Fun with Friends—-Wednesday, September 13, 2023

A few friends met us for a two-hour drive to Marble, Colorado.  (Yes we went again)

Go fast cars

Traveling through one of the last coal mines in our part of the world.

(Food from last Sunday—I forgot to get a photo this Sunday 🙂   )

Onto yummy food and friendship, and a

Visit to the Marble Museum.

A heart-happy time,

Third and Last Cutting of Hay — Tuesday, September 12, 2023

We made it!  Third cutting of hay—-3,000 plus bales counting first and second and third cutting.

(This is just one stack)

After first cutting Terry and I were exhausted and unbearably tired.  But we had no choice but to keep on keeping on.

We finally made it here.

Now to sell this and be done for the haying year 2023!

Summer is Gradually Going Away — Monday, September 11, 2023

We are still irrigating the corn…

(early photo showing the ripening of the corn)

it is slowly starting to dent.  See the little lines in the kernels, that is the dent.

Once completely dented, the shucks will dry out. (Earlier photo of the shucks being dry)

So, until the corn is all dented and the shucks show dry, we keep the water flowing.

Soon, though, soon.  We will be done with the irrigation of the corn for the year.

That Ragged Line Between Time —- Sunday, September 10, 2023

The migrations are in full swing now

Our days turning golden

The nights are much, much cooler

Autumn, like Spring is a seam

Summer, stitching to Fall, Fall to winter

Winter to Spring.

The great circle of seasons balanced and sewed together.

The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-The Most FAVORITE Game in the Whole World, Friday, September 8, 2023

HEY! BOO!  BOO BERRY!!!

YOU CAN NOT CATCH ME, BOO BERRY!

YES! I! CAN!!!!

OVER HERE, Boo!!!

I’m done!  There are other things to do besides chase a cat.

I can’t imagine what.

Well, waiting for Mom.  That’s better than chasing a cat, any day!

And Then They Were Gone —- Thursday, September 7, 2023

The swallows have left.  They are gone. Fall has arrived.

No, I didn’t get to see them leave.  They left Sunday while we were in Marble.

My hummingbirds are slowly thinning out.

I’ve gone from 6 feeders daily.  Now to four.

They are so hungry.  So cute. So special.

Fall is in the air now.  Cool morning and warm days.  Heading toward that season I dread.

Sigh!

Delightfully Wonderful and Much Needed Fun — Wednesday, September 6, 2023

Sunday was such a beautiful day…we thought “Let’s not work!”

So—-we loaded ourselves up and headed up to Marble—a two-hour trip from our house.

We headed to the most popular place in town to eat—-stood in line for a short time (about 15 minutes)

Sat down to a very tasty lunch of pulled pork and sides.

After which we drove around looking at things; making it home at 4:00 P.M., with huge smiles on our faces.

A lovely break in between the work!

A Late Summer Rainbow — Tuesday, September 5, 2023

We were loading out a load of hay when I happened to look at the sky

A quick little rain shower brought with it a prism of light

All around us, the earth smelled of heat, dirt, alfalfa, and the fresh scent of rain in the air.

What a lovely gift at the end of the day!

For a While—Sunday, September 3, 2023

For a while..not long, but long enough

And it is just you (and Terry) and of course the fur kids

The Farm is so peaceful and calm—weeds and all

That your heart rejoices to be part of the earth; mortal, vulnerable, and blessed!
