The Great Spirit of Our Earth — Wednesday, August 24, 2022

While the wars and manipulations of men

Fill the air with restless, convulsing fear and anger

Our quiet daily lives

Keep steadily onward

The earth sends out old familiar energy

Even bringing forth flowers in the late Summer usually seen only in Spring

The Sun, the Rain, and the clouds sing overhead

The air is rich with the scents of earth, trees, flowers, and green weeds

All these things herded together soothe our souls.

From my world to your heart,

The Last Days of Summer — Third Cutting of Hay, August 24, 2021

Terry got the conditioner fixed

the swather all re-conditioned and put back together

The hot and jagged Summer days are waning now

The days starting to grow shorter, the sky taking on a different feel, although the sun is still strong.  Strong enough to MAKE HAY!

The third cutting of hay signals the end of Summer.  (although, it will take a few weeks to get true fall).

Inspiration Leads to Eureka —- Monday, August 24, 2020

Haze from the smoke settles thickly everywhere now

With hardly a breath of wind

The sun is beautiful trying to break through the blanket of low hanging smoke

Becoming tired of thinking about, trying to breathe,

I decided to take some photos of birds

All fluttering about looking for food

Checking my camera later I realized,

I actually DID get an excellent shot of a Hummingbird in full flight!

I was DELIGHTED! To say the least!

The Air Sparkled with Light and Water—Thursday, August 24, 2017

Early this week we were blessed with the shy dancing lights

Of Rainbows!

Our air was full of the scent of Sweet Alyssum, Four O’Clocks and wonderful ozone

As the sun started to set, the sun’s rays broke through the western clouds shining white hot into the immense rain soaked air

Making rainbows in the sky; catching in the fine gossamer of the sprinkler…glinting rainbows upon the heavens and on the earth.

Today I give to you Rainbows!

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Fall is in the Air—Monday, August 24, 2015

Rabbit-BrushNo matter how much I wish to ignore the signs…they are here.

Fall has arrived!

The nights are cooler–so much so I must so I must shut the windows in the house by two in the morning.

AlmostThe Rabbit Brush is starting to bloom, the trees are sporting lighter leaves, even yellow in some places.

FledgeThe last of this year’s bird babies are rapidly growing and changing.  One set fledged yesterday…to the relief of Sam-Sam.  These little ones were on the back porch light, causing the parents to very aggressive to Boomer, Sam and Terry and I.

bWe even have a few leaves starting to leave the trees.

BrillantNo matter that it is still August…Fall has arrived.
