An Enchanted Place—-Sunday, August 20, 2017

“There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever.”— Elizabeth Lawrence

If I had to pick a favorite season….I think I might struggle a bit…the early spring days lift me up after the thin winter sun, which painted long blue shadows void of warmth and color.  Spring lifts me up like the greening of the trees color the brown drab landscape.

Then summer with all it’s heat, which sits heavy and still, on the land, and swarms of chores—which seem never ending.

After which comes fall with the crisp, clear days and immense bursts of color; bring the world into life, in a way none of the other seasons can.

But if I am forced to pick…I would pick SUMMER!

For beats with a song only the humming of the stars in the heavens, (and in my heart, my mind, and my soul), can understand.

From my heart to your world,

Linda

Waiting for Hay—Tuesday, July 21, 2014

Baling-HayWe have one field done.

OutAnother to go.

The gentleman who called and said he wanted to come down on Friday (of last week) to check out the hay for purchase right in the field.

Never showed up.  Hay doesn’t wait.  It gets dry to one point and then starts to become crispy sticks…no hay anymore.

Some people just don’t do what they say they will do. Oh, well, life goes on and so do we.  🙂

So we had to go ahead and bale hay.  We hauled one field last night.  Then probably on Wednesday Terry will get the other field baled so we can haul that evening.

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer on Friday — The Swallows Left

Yesterday, while Mom was washing the windows and the screen for the Living Room and the Dining Room the Swallows left the corn field – flinging themselves off the top of the corn tassels and into to the air to land on the electric lines way above our heads.

They gathered in huge bunches.

Mom hurried in to get her camera.

Whew

But well ….. I barked and barked at them — and they flew away.

I was sad.

So was Mom.

Mom said she wasn’t mad at me, she was just sad because when the Swallows leave the Hummingbirds will be next. After they leave it will start to freeze and the snows will come with huge winds that rip your face off your head.

She gave Boomie and me a huge hug and went back to washing screens.

We’ve been working with Dad in the New Hay field for several days now.  The hay just wasn’t drying down.

Checking-the-hay

This is Dad checking the hay to see if it is dry enough to bale.

Altogether he has ten loads!!!   COOL!

He is hauling the last as I write this!

One of the raccoon’s ran through the yard last night….

Boomie took off after him, so today Boom says his knee is hurting rather more than usual.

Hop  Mom gave Boomer lots of pets and a dog aspirin in a SAUSAGE!!! (I got one also, but I didn’t tell Boomer!)

Well, the day is warming up nicely and I see a really nice hole that has my name on it.  Boomer is resting his leg, but I think I’ll rest my eyes!
