I am a Lover of Hot, Summer Days—Thursday, January 4, 2023

But, I must admit, I have finally, finally, finally

Grown to the point, I am enjoying this winter. Who would have ever thought so?  Not me, even as late as last Spring.

Last summer was beautiful and intense

But the haying about did in both Terry and I.  We took off 1,000 bales of alfalfa three times, and 400 bales of grass three times—600 bales of alfalfa/grass mix three times and the heat, plus the work about did us in. Thankfully, every bale sold just about as soon as I put up the advertisement.  YAY!

By October we were overly tired.

The corn harvest had its share of concern, but at least the days were cooler.  That helped.

January and winter bring cold and a type of dreamy state.  Yes, there is equipment to work on and other bits of this and that to fix, but the weeds are no longer an issue, getting the water to the plants finished, and ensuring all the crops stay healthy is over—-and no lawn to mow!!!  PLUS WORK ON SOMETHING THAT BROKE DOWN AS IT WAS BEING USED!

Now it’s keeping the house warm, and resting a bit.

Soon the cows will come and the farm will be a live with activity.

Until then, as I said—we will work on getting the equipment ready for spring, keep the wood pile high, and do other things of interest.

Do As Well as Possible, Then Leave the Rest to the God (the Universe) —Wednesday, January 4, 2022

At the end of the year, it is natural to look back

To search out those things we did well,

or those things we wish we could do over

Then we start to look forward—

As it is only natural to do.

For you in 2023— I wish for you:

The immensity of love from the Heavens

And the amplified love, from those of us who love you,

Will wash over you this coming year

So that each one of you is doubly blessed!

That is my hope, my prayer, and my wishes for you!

There in the Restless Sky — Tuesday, January 4, 2021

As the snarling, jostling, howling wind roared and flung things here and there.

It also started pushing away the very nasty winter snow

Allowing a wee break in the clouds to gift us with

A snow rainbow!

What a buoyant breath of beauty!

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Caught on the Game Camera— Monday, January 4, 2021

Who would have thought a pig would be wandering through on a very cold winter night?

Not Terry and I, but there you have it. A pig caught clearly on the game camera!

We think it must have gotten out of some farmer’s pig and started traveling.

The camera caught the pig moving through Christmas eve.  I haven’t seen it since.

The Perfect Stillness of Golden Light—Thursday, January 4, 2018

My brother and his wife, Cloudy, live in Boulder, Colorado.

Cloudy was walking downtown one late afternoon when that golden hour just after sunset occured

Cloudy said she stood and took photos in all four directions—north, south, east, and west in the graceful, soft hour before the coming of dark.

I loved the photos!

Cloudy graciously shared them with me, so I could share them with you.

This perfect solitude amazing color,  in the heart of downtown Boulder.

Farm Sale Purchase—-Wednesday, January 4, 2017

The season for farm sales has started.  Sometimes this is not a good thing…farmer’s losing their farm, because of foreclosure, but other times it’s due to a farmer and his wife selling out and moving.

Yesterday’s farm sale was just that…the farmer and his wife were selling out to move to California — where all their kids live now.  No one in the family wanted to move back and take over the farm, so the parents were going to move out to the Land of Milk and Honey and live with them.

The day was a good day for a sale….bright and sunny with intermittent clouds.

It was also a good day to haul the trash to county dump.

(These are old photos I forgot to take my camera with me)

tires

Once in awhile there was a sharp, piercing little wind. Not bad, but enough to chill you if you didn’t wear proper clothes.  (I had on socks and close-toed shoes 🙂 )

fuel-tank

Late in the afternoon Terry came home with his new treasure

set-upIt didn’t take us long to get the diesel fuel tank out of the truck and sat up…to wait patiently for the new season of farming.

(It looks like we are farming one more year. 🙂 🙂 )
