Sunday Stills – A Small Part of a Whole

What a busy day!  I am just now getting my Sunday Stills Photos up and it’s 8:00 at night (really I’m still on Mountain Standard Time so it is 7:00 p.m.)

I chose for my Sunday Stills Small part of a whole as the fence and gate lock, but as I get here I realize I didn’t get a photo of one fence.  Please forgive…here is a small part of the fence and it’s lock.

I took a photos of two different fences on the place and our creative locks!

Happy Sunday One and All!

Sunday Stills—Trees

This lucky assignment happened just in the nick of time.  I was going to post my February Trees (I’m taking photos of the same trees at the same time every month—just so I can see the movement of the seasons.)

So here it is the last Sunday of the month and the Sunday Stills assignment is TREES!  YEA!

My last post of these very same trees can be seen here complete with snow on the ground!

We are almost to March, not long now.  Terry said he will start farming in three weeks.  Lots of the big farmers are already working up the ground.

Sunday Stills—From the Heart

The Sunday Stills assignment this week is in honor of Valentine’s Day….  something from the heart.

When I was a child my Momma always decorated for Valentine’s Day.  And it seemed she was always the room mother in charge of this sweet and romantic holiday.  One year she created a castle out of cardboard boxes and poster board, then she decorated it with crepe paper and lace doilies and beautiful pink and read hearts.

This lovely castle sat on it it’s very own table at our tiny country school house (only 8 to 10 children where in my class from First Grade through the Sixth).  Into the slot at the top of the castle every child placed their Valentines…some were store bought (if your parents had money) but most were hand-made.

This lovely little castle has sat in my mind ever since.  Once in awhile I try to recreate it, but I always come up short.  I guess, for it to be correct, it needs her loving touch.

My valentine decorations aren’t as fancy as hers, but they make me feel ‘the spirit’.

Happy Sunday Stills Everyone!

Sunday Stills -Birds

The Sunday Stills assignment is birds this week.  I’ve had a hard time getting photos of the many birds around the place so I had to settle for a photo of my chickens before the snow came.

At least they are birds 🙂

Sunday Stills —- Corners

This week’s Sunday Stills assignment was Corners.

Here are a few from around our place…even the tractor shed complete with the old standing lamp, Terry is saving to work on sometime.

Sunday Stills—2012

The challenge for Sunday Stills is to post your favorite photo from 2011 and your photographic hopes for 2012.

I actually liked this one that I took this morning…I love the colors and the crisp feeling it provokes.

I hope to be able to continue to ‘see’ what I’m photographing—looking for lines, lights, and colors. And apply it to people.

I’m still learning how to photograph people…it’s a skill I would love to have.

Have a wonderful 2012…It doesn’t seem possible we are here.  When I was in the first grade this year seemed ages and ages away.

Sunday Stills

What represents Christmas to you is this weeks Sunday Stills.

For me it is the tree, always the tree.  I don’t care what kind of tree, real, artifical, snow coverd…(well, maybe not those wild pink and red and blue trees)…some with lots of lights, some with not so many lights, some outside, some inside…it doesn’t matter.  I love Christmas trees.

I also like lights on all sorts of trees and bushes outside.

There isn’t a Sunday Still challenge next week, because it is Christmas.  But there will be one for New Year’s Day.

Sunday Stills is a really good way to develop your photographic skills and to meet other people interested in photography.  Maybe for 2012 you would like to join us.  If you do, just leave a message in the Sunday Stills comment area that you will be up and when, then post your photo for the blog challenge, link the two blogs together, and visit those who also participate.

Have Fun!

Merry Christmas, one and all!

—Sunday Stills Challenge—In the Dark

The Sunday Stills Challenge is In the Dark….I was going to do this for Halloween, but I realized this would work well here.

Sunday Stills- Steps

The Sunday Stills assigment–go to the site for complete instructions— was “take 25 steps and then take three photos of what you are looking upon

This is the canal that provides irrigation water to our place

I didn’t put in three.  As you can see the water is running clear.

Then take 50 steps and repeat the process

This is water as it flows under the bridge to our farm.

This time next week the water will be turned off.  Come March it will come back on, until then the canal will be dry.

This was a fun Sunday Stills assigment!

Sunday Stills–Looking High and Low

The Sunday Stills challenge this week is Looking High and Low.

So I chose my lilacs.  They are just wonderful this year

I only have three bushes.  I was afraid they were going to not bloom because of all the freezes and the very cold weather

I’m so very glad they made it through!

My yard smells just wonderful!
