About Dayphoto

My name is Linda Brown. I live on a farm on the western slope of Colorado, in the high mountain desert. I’ve lived here all my life, hailing back four generations on my father’s side. Today I blog about our farm, the everyday activities that keep the farm going. I also write about my thoughts and dreams and goals. On Friday’s I always write about TLC Cai-Cai. Our sweet kitty who helps keep the farm safe. And Boo Berry Betty, a breeder dog learning to be a Farm Dog! The lovely thing about blogging it opens the world up for all of us to reach out and meet people from many different cultures and different ways of life. You can find me every day (but Saturday) at https://coloradofarmlife.wordpress.com/ Your Friend on a Western Colorado Farm, Linda Brown

A Quiet Orderly Life — Monday, February 13, 2023

This is the lull before the ‘getting ready to farm’ work begins.

We are making lists and checking them —

fences to fix, pipes to lay, trees to cut down off the ditch banks, hauling dirt—the list grows.  Just enough.

Then we begin.  After which we get out on the land and start farming!

Just weeks away now.

Linda

Fragile Wings in the Air —- Sunday, February 12, 2023

Their beauty in the evening sky

Their voices, calling, calling through the cold and quivering air.

I am so grateful for the large winter birds.  They help me pass the long winter time.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-My Favoritist Thing to Do, Friday, February 10, 2023

Guess what my favoritist thing to do is?

Go on a walk with MOM!

I don’t care where we go.

We can go—

Here

And THERE

And well—not where the horses are, they are scary.

We can go with Kya and Black Beauty and Shannon

We can go to the hen house

Or into the yard

I really don’t care.

Just so I’m with MOM!

Cold but Not Troubling — Thursday, February 9, 2023

It’s cold, no denying that!

It does warm up for a short while in the afternoon

Which truly helps.

Enough to take a walk, whistling all the while.

(I saw three Western Bluebirds yesterday—they are a bit early, but so welcome to see!

A sure sign —spring is beginning — well, at least thinking of thinking, to think about beginning 🙂  )

In the Chill Deep Breaths of Winter — Wednesday, February 8, 2023

That mysterious sweetness

Of February’s Full Moon

Shinning eloquently

Over the farm—blessing us…all of us.

You and me and everyone.

From my heart to your world,

Linda

Counting the Days, I Can’t Help It —- Tuesday, February 7, 2023

It is still winter here—although, we did have a mild Sunday

And wind.

But woke up to snow on Monday.

In three more weeks, it will be March!  March is the start of spring for me!! 🙂

YAY!

The Entrance to Twilight —- Monday, February 6, 2023

There—- right there

Painted in vivid gold

Was a golden ray of Sunshine breaking forth from the setting sun

From my world to your heart,

Linda

So—-What Did We Do on Friday? —- Sunday, February 5, 2023

We split a huge pile of logs for the fireplace.

It was a good feeling that splitting was ALL we had to do!

YAY!

The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-Two is a Marvelous Age, Friday 3, 2023

If I were a human

I would be 24 years of age

I would dress the part (which I do)

I would have a fast car (I have fast paws)

And I be out of college (or on to grad school)

I would have the world by the tail.

Well, I am a cat

I dress the part of a very handsome fellow each and every day of my kitty life

I have fast paws—VERY FAST

I can climb any tree and walk any fence—I am a cool cat

I even trip up Boo Berry as she walks by and

tumble her like a leaf.

She jumps up and gives me a hurt look, but I laugh and run off

I am TLC Cai-Cai—the Kitty of the FARM!!

WE DID IT!!!!—-Thursday, February 2, 2023

On October 2, 2022, Jason brought in a semi-load of firewood.

Enough firewood for Shannon, Terry, and I, and Cliff and Kimberly.

We kept working on it for four months.

Two to three pickup loads a day

It was a long, gradual process

Bruce came out and helped one full day—sure was a lovely gift.

Terry cut. I loaded. Then we unloaded.  Some with us, some with Shannon.

With Cliff and Kimberly, we hauled their amount to their house—which helped shrink the pile

We MADE! IT!  DONE!!!

Last load to the house!

YAY!

Now the only thing left is the splitting of the wood.
